Not paying attention, caught up in the moment. Never mind we won another game of football.

Sunderland showing how impossible it is to survive in the PL as a newly promoted side.

Came here to post the same thing.

Now I've got nothing against Sunderland, at all. I don't know any dickheads that support them and I'm genuinely pleased for their fans. But...

It's ****ing killing me watching what they've achieved. Imagine actually being promoted and trying. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I'll never forgive SR for completely giving up before a ball was even kicked

Spend £170m and bring in 15 new players. It’s essentially what Forest did when they got promoted and I think everyone agreed that is the best way to survive. They may get a points deduction next season but, if it’s anything like Forests, then it’s worth the risk

Whether or not other clubs will start doing it more regularly, with the obvious risk that it’s not 100% guaranteed to work (I think Ipswich spent similar last season for example) we’ll have to wait and see.

No doubt the promoted sides have had it easier than last season as well with the likes of Wolves losing their best players, didn’t happen last season. Still think Burley and Leeds will go down but Sunderland should survive now given Wolves demise

I noticed that yesterday Chelsea’s 3 scorers all had 1st & 2nd names ending in O and two assists were provided by another player with a 2nd name ending in O

    Gusto, Pedro, Neto, Garnacho

    One for the lexicologically inclined?

He was stripped and ready to come on 5 minutes earlier. But Pope tried to play on after treatment.

I’m always watching MOTD for VAR decisions and their affect on games so as to enjoy our lack of it

This week I think had a couple of classics

ManC v Liv I felt that the disallowed Liv goal was wrong as the keepers ability to save the header wasn’t impaired and the pundits said the same. VAR overturned a good decision

Doku pen was a very slight touch
Pen given by VAR or not overturned
    (I forget which)

Brentford had 2 pen appeals on Outarra
1st one similar slight touch, pen not given
2nd one, Burn didn’t seem to touch him and he dived, pen given, Burn 2nd yellow
    VAR didn’t change questionable decisions

    I love the Championship
    Long may we avoid VAR

I watched the City v Liverpool game and agree with you. Two decisions go against Liverpool in the same match, who'd have thought that could happen? Funny though.
The Doku penalty shows the weakness around VAR. Although the goalkeeper's knee does touch Doku's foot it was minimal contact. Watching an incident like that in slow motion seems to justify a penalty these days. It's just not good enough to say "there was contact", the decision making since VAR was introduced has become farcical at times.

Some of City's passing in that game was superb and Doku was brilliant at times. Liverpool doubled up and still couldn't stop him, I thought it was one of the best games I've seen in quite a while. Liverpool were better than the scoreline suggests.

The Doku one was a pen for one good reason - the contact, although minimal, was enough to knock him off balance. The proof is that he tried to stay on his feet. It was a good VAR intervention. The Liverpool "goal" should have stood though.

I think the Doku pen was getting into or very near the subjective zone an was very similar to the Burn one that wasn’t given

The poor offside decision is clearer though
