I have now become the Moderator. I have deleted a number of threads as I want the forum to become Charlton centric. If you have any problems with me or the forum please pm me. I want this forum to be about you the posters. If you have any ideas please feel free to let me know. I will put more up tomorrow.
Unblock the politics and bad news thread on a permanent basis. As regards the other threads, do what you like.
Think it’s been good the last couple of days with - good news , bad news , politics - good food etc - football doesn’t fill my life , I have other stuff going on - just need to stop getting personal and understanding other people’s views
I will go with what the majority want. Please post what you want to be kept open. Will decide tomorrow. But if there is any nastiness I will close the thread. I hope that is not too authoritarian. Got a game to watch.
Firstly, thanks to @lardiman - I apologise to him now in public as I have done in private. I went too far on Sunday. Lardi will always be welcome on here. My choice is to leave any provocative threads locked. There’s more than enough football -wise to discuss.
It’s very easy to misconstrue other people’s posts on line - offence is easily taken when none is intended, sometimes we all need to count to ten , maybe more if you take your socks off
I would also like to thank Lardy. We haven’t always seen eye to eye but I respect him for moderating the Forum for so long.
Just to let you all know that I have listened to everyone who has posted about the politics and other threads and decided that they will stay deleted. This is a Charlton Athletic football forum and we should be concentrating on that. The bad news and politics thread has caused a lot of friction and arguments and I don’t want that for this forum. If you are not happy with me and with how I am running this forum please pm me. Don’t put it on the main forum. I will be happy to discuss anything with you. Nothing is set in stone, there maybe a time when we can reintroduce the politics thread. I know this will not please everyone but I think it is the best course of action at the moment.
All threads previously deleted have now become undeleted. Some posters have got in touch with me by PM. So I have decided to reinstate them.
Understood. For my part, as mentioned before the weekend I won't be contributing personally anymore to any threads in which political content is debated. Originally that was because I accepted it was a conflict of interest (with me being the moderator at the time). Now, I feel it would be generally better for the forum if I don't make posts on political subjects. I don't want to be a divisive element. This is only my own personal position though as a (de facto) regular member again. If some other members wish to debate political or current affairs subjects, that is no problem at all as far as I'm concerned. Folks have been in touch with our moderator and he has listened to their points of view. I know you don't need my support to do a good job as our moderator @Dick Plumb1 and it sounds presumptuous of me even to point that out. But for the record - you do have my full support in your work to look after this forum going forwards.
No worries. And again for - what it's worth and speaking as a regular member - I feel strongly that you deserve the support of all Not606 Charlton members. Please everyone - disregard that green banner under my avatar. @Dick Plumb1 is the moderator of Not606 Charlton now - and for good. Can we not put our differences aside and get behind him in his efforts to do the best by our little community? And please remember - the moderator is not here to be the 'president' or 'boss' of the forum. Not like Reams dictates on ITTV. The Mod on this forum is here to look after the community. To be it's caretaker, and occasionally it's arbiter. He is here to help keep this forum safe for all members to enjoy and contribute to. The direction of Not606 Charlton is not (like ITTV) dictated by a leader. Granted, different mods have different approaches. But the atmosphere and flavour of this forum is made up of all the posts that all members make. We are all the ones who make this forum what it is. We all influence it's direction. It's our collective responsibility. Do we want it to be a place where we niggle, argue and take offence too easily? Or a place where we (by-and-large) get on with each other and accept our differences? That's our choice as members. In a nutshell - can we get behind our mod please Sermon over
Yes I agree, pity I haven’t got it though. I thought making this forum more Charlton centric was the way to go. But it seems I was wrong
I hope not. I think this forum can become more focused on Charlton, but it may come as a gradual process that carries everyone along. It won't be achieved in a single step. Let's give it time to mature, take each day as it comes and take events as they come. This is a good time for Charlton. Feels like a new beginning. Time for optimism here as well...
Certain posters on here Not @lardiman @ElfsborgAddick or Dicky I hasten to add …who profess not to enjoy the antagonism that these threads always bring ..can now can back to enjoying the antagonism.
