BBC has an agenda, which of course it shouldn't, and it permeates through an awful lot of what they do imho.

I think we all have an agenda depending on our beliefs, but there has to be better processes at the BBC and alike to ensure balance and clarity. They are still influential in many forms,
I find it strange people are ready to believe anything they read on social media.

I think that’s a huge problem in today’s society. It just spreads “local” gossip faster.

In another whats in the news thing.
Been on my mind for a while, contemplating posting or keeping my thoughts to myself.
The grooming gang story rose to the top of the pile with questions raised by the victims about the inquiry. Now displaced and seemingly forgotten with the shock headline non stop news of Andrew formally known as prince.
On one hand kids some not even in their teens groomed by adults, sometimes waiting outside school gates to collect them, plied with drugs and alcohol passed around groups of men, filmed performing sex acts, threatened with broadcasting those videos to keep them compliant. Taken to other towns so other groups of men could abuse them. When they or even their parents went to the police for help they were refused, it may turn out that some police may have been taking part in the abuse. Social workers knew what was going on but didn't act in case of being called racist or upsetting local communities.

On the other hand Andrew going to parties with other rich and famous people where there were attractive young girls, maybe the girls were coerced into going but at 17 if you were asked if you wanted to be flown to some Caribbean island to have a party with loads of rich people, politicians and royalty... well I don't think it's comparable to the above.

Not easy to write and I am aware that the second part is short of detail, both are wrong and need to be fully investigated but it's the imbalance of the news coverage that is grinding my gears.

one famous person dying gets 1000x more coverage than 100 people dying in a massacre in sudan or some other place

news goes for clicks, big names get the views and clicks

The general public tend to “forgive” celebrities and make excuses for them too, which really grinds my gears. How many times do you see a celebrity down for a wee while, then all of a sudden, they’re back getting million pound contracts. How many times do you see celebrities going bankrupt, but then living the high life only months later. “Ordinary people” commit suicide because of debts, owing tax etc., celebrities and the famous seem to get away with it.

I kinda agree, in that there are degrees to this kind of thing so one is ultimately more abhorrent than the other, but coercion of young women is still ****ty, and Andrew deserves to get ****ed for his predatory involvement. I just hope that we get to find out the full details and everyone else gets ****ed too.

They've cleared some of the regular stuff out of the Aldi freezers to put in some festive party food in back in late September

And now they've been caught with their pants well and truly down over misleading editing of the Trump January 6th speech. A report by one of their own advisors which has now been leaked heavily criticises them. It's a ****ing joke and heads need to role.

****s letting off fireworks tonight The dogs ****ting herself.
I had a firework party planned for tomorrow. Next door bought a puppy so I've had to cancel. My own dog is fine with them.

I'm chalking this one up as community spirit and I'm going to take them instead to Orchard Park and fire them at busses with the other guys.

Absolutely disgraceful from the BBC. How can you trust anything these days. As you say, heads must roll; I fear they won't.

BBC. Tbf, just watched an expose on BBC 1 this morning of illegal shops (mentioned also barbers and car washed) being run in some cases by asylum seekers awaiting for their cases to be decided I.e. no right to work here.. Went under cover to expose 20 odd shops ("from Hull to Liverpool"). Being facilitated by a
the same small handful of people they have names of, typically Kurds. Selling counterfeit cigs n vapes, and selling them to children as young as 12. No accounts filed either.
Report passed on to Home Office who commented "we'll look into them".
Nothing new, we all know what's going on in plain sight.
This country is a sick joke.
.....but BBC are at least showing it

You would think it would be easy. A shop sells counterfeit and the council immediately shuts them down. But, oh no, that doesn't happen.
