Have we not also been told that Rasmus is no longer involved at Saints beyond selling players? and he got shipped off to focus on Goztepe where he's done well?

Would be pretty weird for Solak to get annoyed at how the club is run, sack people, change the management structure etc. etc. to just let that kind of thing still happen if it ever did. Why would we also sanction buying lots of players that don't fit into this 3 at the back system?

I do agree that the problems run deeper than the manager, and there probably is weird stuff at play. But also doesn't make sense to me that someone like Rasmus is decreeing what system we play. Just seems a bit conspiracy theorist because we are all desperate to understand what has gone so wrong and continues to plague us no matter what seems to change.

If Still is bowing to pressure from above him then that's another reason why I want him replaced frankly.
A manager has to be enough of a character to lead his squad and take the tough decisions, it is him that will ultimately be accountable and lose his job.

Yeah it is hard to believe and I would not even know where to begin, but it surely is an option, even if only slight interference. Why are all these managers largely crap with us, then good once they leave?

You say things are rotten from top to bottom, but what does that mean? How does that work? We have yet again replaced the management and coaching team, shipped a load of players out and got new ones in, as we do most seasons, why can't we move past the rottenness?

I think we can probably all agree that something is not right with the club as a whole, we just don't agree on what it is.

Only one possible answer. What is the only constant in all that time? The fans, it’s our fault and we deserve it

Interference from above wouldn't be the first time for it to happen in football.

No club is rotten top to bottom. What is happening is that the people in the boardroom aren't properly in control of the club. The club is being pulled in different directions.

One thing I forgot to say is that there isn't a football philosophy at Saints. Say what you like about Cortese, but he imposed a personality on Saints. What do Saints stand for now?

Russ and Selles were both found out as managers very early on this season. Ralph lasted less than six months at Wolfsburg. Juric it is too early to say (he has only won 2 games from 9 so far*). Jones is doing well, but at a lower level than what we hired him for.

Edit: 3 wins from 12 for Juric including Champs League games.

Yeah you got me, some of them have struggled. Russ really doesn't help himself, he learns nothing and will surely struggle to get a top job again until he actually achieves something.

I have not followed Ralph, so thought he had done well, pretty sure I remember people saying that, also same for Juric.

I didn't count Seles as he was basically an interim manager.

So Jones is doing well and maybe Championship is his level, shame he jumped ship to Saints as we would have had a fairer idea if he had stayed at Luton and got them promoted.

I don't know, maybe if we hired Klopp and he turned out ****e, we would finally know it is likely not the manager but the club as a whole, but that is never going to happen!

Jones inherited an absolute sh*t-show from Ralph. The fans expectations were too high, and he was a berk in his interviews. Ultimately it was a very risky hire by SR, and it backfired. Selles won two of his first three games, so I don't blame them for giving him the rest of that season. Russ, after all is said and done, was a successful hire. He got us promoted, job done. Juric had a very solid-looking record in Italy, though his time at Roma was a bit of a red flag.

Still is the same risk level as Jones. I thought he'd do well, but he is failing miserably. He is the biggest criticism I have of SR's manager recruitment so far. The Jones recruitment was naive, but with Still they repeated the same mistake a second time.

One conspiracy I might give time to, is that they only want to hire a 'yes' man, who will agree not to interfere in the transfer comings and goings. But I really can't see them interfering with substitutions and tactics/formations. I just feel one of the former managers would have said something about it by now if it was true.

Yeah I agree with most of that to be fair.

Russ was a success in his first season and I think for people claiming they should have sacked him as soon as we gained promotion, a big chunk of those people probably would have been up in arms if that did happen, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I thought Jones would do well, I thought Still would do well. I still think with more time Jones would have done better than we did under Selles, probably wouldn't have been enough to stop relegation though.

I also think with more time Still will do better, but he may not get time and then who knows where we go if he is sacked. SR have no precedent of hiring mid season in the Championship. Their appointments are a bit left field at the best of times but they have all happened either in the Premier League or as soon as we have been relegated and are still a big draw, who would they get mid season?

Surely may as well get behind Still and encourage the team and him to improve. Imagine the majority get their wish and we appoint a dud and get relegated, surely that would not happen under Still? I'd personally rather not roll that dice again!

Also just want to add that yes Russ was crap at RANGERS but he only lost 1 league game, so it's context of where he is.

At a lower Scottish team or a championship team like Saints, he would probably do well, like Jones, that is probably his level, at least until he learns to play different systems against different opposition.
 
Apparently Tom Cleverly could be on the brink of the sack at Plymouth. Wasn’t he linked quite heavily with the job in the summer or am I mis remembering that
 
If (and that’s a big if) there is interference from above, I can see it maybe in team formation and perhaps in certain personnel but it still doesn’t explain the weird substitutions. I can’t believe for example, anyone putting pressure on the manager to swap Scienza for Jack Stevens.

I think it more likely that if there is interference, it may be in the form of pressure to win games at any cost, hence the apparent ‘panic’ throwing on attacking players when we’re chasing the game or shutting up shop when 1-0 up. I think we look like a team that is being set up not to lose rather than one that is looking to win.
