Former Ajax manager John van ‘t Schip has raised concern over the Sunderland summer signing’s fitness. He’s been speaking to Rondo about the 23-year-old and Ajax Showtime have relayed his comments

Sunderland player needs to avoid the weights
When asked how he achieved it, he said: “In the first phase, he was fit. The only thing I told him, because he’s very strong with the ball and holding off opponents, was that he needed to vary his play much more.

“He found a good balance in that. There was a good period, and I think he scored eighteen goals in all the matches I was there. He was also named Ajax Player of the Year.”

The current Sunderland player picked up a hamstring injury towards the end of Van ‘t Schip’s spell. The latter has now spoke about concern over Brobbey’s fitness.

“Only in the last three or four months did he have constant complaints. He could play for thirty minutes, then not, then sixty minutes. He’s a bit vulnerable physically, that’s the only downside,” Van ‘t Schip explained.

Van ‘t Schip is of the belief the Netherlands international’s physical strength is hindering him.

“Yes, that’s possible. You shouldn’t take him to the weight room. He has strength, but I think it’s more about his muscle structure and flexibility. He has so much power that things sometimes go wrong for him,” he added.

Interesting insight. I do sometimes think players can be too muscle heavy. Not agreeing Brobbey is, but always interesting to hear from folk who have an insight.

He will probably score a hatrick against Wolves.

In Spain(Alicante) at the moment and the local taxi driver Mad Dennis is from Amsterdam and follows Ajax. He reckons if he gets back to the form the season before last showed said we have the new Lakaku, extremely strong and drags defenders about on his back for fun. Always has a smile on his face but something went wrong last season. But even when in form said he needs a little more composure as he rushes a lot of shots when an extra yard or two would’ve resulted in more goals.

When we scored that goal we had four players around their box in the 94th minute ...

... that's why we deserved to win.

So much for Chelsea claiming we had eleven men behind the ball, tossers.

How the hell did Geertruida make that 40 yard pass to Brobbey then end up highest man up the field a couple of seconds later :emoticon-0102-bigsm

As much as RLB is praised I think this was an example of how players are given the freedom to make decisions.

Chelsea were taken completely by surprise ...

... it was hilarious watching their bench and players after the goal went in.

Yep.

He definitely encourages them to work it out for themselves as well as all the pre match planning.

Great for player development that is. You never see Regis doing that , puffing his chest out and waving of the hand, moving a player two yards up or in . All for the cameras that shyte I think.

They acted like spoil brats all game.

And that’s why talk about them being title challengers is nonsense …

… the manager and captain simply don’t have the maturity.

Chelsea are a bunch of highly talented young egos without a distinct style of play and the propensity to cheat. Against Sunderland they may as well have followed the referee around shouting ‘I want my own way’ like a teenager who needs a slap.

Well they got one on Saturday and their face will be stinging for a while yet <laugh>

Talking about RLB, I was a bit concerned how well he would do against premier league head coaches. I need not have feared so far. ‘Brilliant acquisition’ doesn’t do him justice.
