How well Boro are doing under Edwards makes me think Carrick might have under achieved there tbh.

I'd rather we try and poach someone than go for somebody unemployed too, use that financial might while we have it.

I doubt he'd come but I'd definitely be asking the question to Mark Robins, I'm sure there's precedent for a manager of an unfancied side in the play offs leaving for a club with more resources lower down the league.

If he says no then try the same with Alex Neil who I think probably would come. Has a promotion on his record and done a brilliant job at Millwall.
Think it’s been acknowledged that Carrick’s work is part of the reason why Boro are where they are currently under Edward’s.

Difference this time being that Spors is calling the shots rather than Ankersen. Just gotta hope that Spors is more ruthless. At the moment Still is making him look like a clown.

Of course Spors will probably just f*ck off to Juventus and wash his hands of it all.

You can’t argue with this.(Still mugging off Spors)
Downs looks terrible, but the other signings have looked decent enough at this level.
Scienza, Fellows and Azaz were all great business and we all thought he could get these boys in and make us a more dynamic and exciting team.

He’s rarely played two of them at the same time, let alone all three and has stuck to his drab back five with two DMs and we’ve looked pedestrian, because we play too much football in front of our opponents.

I think people on this forum are being generous to him with the striker excuse. Archer and Armstrong is more than enough, he just doesn’t have the tactical ability to make it work

Yep, couldn't agree more. His negative tactics make Southgate look like Bielsa.

Is changing the manager going to get a top two finish. No

Is changing the manager going to get us in the playoffs. Possibly.

Personally, I think Still needs more time.
We are only 11 weeks into the season.
We had new players arriving late in the window, 8 weeks ago. Two international breaks in that tiime. That leaves very little coaching time.

If we are dangerously in or flirting with the relegation zone come January, I would have no problem with him going.

I remember it took Chelsea and City a couple of seasons to get going and they bought the best you could buy.

It's a painful time. Yesterday I threw my toys out of the pram. The grass is not always greener!

By who out of interest? Not disputing it btw just curious.

Dunno why but I've got a bad feeling about Carrick. Would much prefer Neil.

I gave him 10 games after the window to find his best team and we are arguably further away now than were then.
The main issue is that he is not setting the team up to get the best out of the players he has available, he is ironically not fearless enough (something he said the players needed to be, the less said about his negative subs the better!).
Azaz should be playing every game as the 10 feeding Adarma, Archer, Fellows and Scienza depending on who plays. We need the two DM/CMs behind him getting him possession in the areas to hurt the oppo defence like a Quarterback, he should not be playing any deeper than an AM imo and definitely not in a pair.
Archer clearly needs service on the deck for him to use his pace to run onto, same with Adarma.
We have been playing WBs with only two in midfield which means that the flow of attacks has been from wide areas which doesn't suit Archer and I believe that he will score more often in the right set up.

I don’t disagree, but from the outside looking in we are a shambles.

That said I guess he could fancy his chances.

Part of me wants another relegation. L1 were some of the best times supporting Saints, but only if we continue to be backed.

It just feels to me like we need a huge reset, and relegation would do that.

I get the financial consequences could be dire and wonder if that would prompt SR to sell Saints.

I also don’t understand people who say they won’t sell us as it’s a multi club model. It is but they can remove us and carry on etc with their model.
They won't sell as currently as it would be a huge financial hit compared to purchase price. Any busy savvy guy knows to buy low and sell high. At the moment our selling price would be quite low

He should go and get a job at an upper L1/low level Champ club thatdoesn't have huge expectation.
He’s already done that. He’s the guy called Gaffer. He’s living up to that name.

As disappointed and disillusioned as most of you, I have learnt that we should not overreact at this point of the season, the league will fluctuate madly and it might turn out that WS actually knows what he is doing.
There are warning signs I agree and the team should be performing a lot better but constantly changing the manager when things go a bit **** is probably not the answer.
Let's give it until January and see what happens.

Sadly I think that it is time for Will to go.

I don't think he knows this league or his best team. Off hand I can't think of one Saints manager that has come good after such a disappointing start. The most important thing now is that the club gets the next managerial appointment right, so if it takes a couple of months before the trigger is pulled so be it.

I'm not prepared to write this season off as many seemingly are.

We're 7 points off the play offs and that's absolutely nothing in this league at this stage of the season. Theres plenty of talent in this squad too despite it being a bit unbalanced.
I agree but this is why it is so important to act now and replace Still. Every game that passes by sees us fall further behind and makes it so much more difficult for the next manager.

I think that it's the basic mistakes that Still keeps making and his poor in game management that mean that the job is too big for him right now. To me he is another Pellegrino who has no idea how to set a team up to best provide for the attack. Added to this the defence this last couple of games has been shambolic despite him throwing more bodies back there.
