Back home after a brilliant day. Nice hot bath and a large single malt. I have to say this team are just something else. They work fight graft call it what you like for each other. No big fish all the same. Our defence is just magnificentBallard is improving so much xhaka holds things together in midfield. Wilson works his socks off up front . The closing down today at times was just sensational putting supposedly world class players into panic mode. Brobbey when he came on is a beast held it well the ball rolled across to talbi was perfect but the finish was exquisite. Our supporters were unbelievable again today sang their hearts out but the lads give us something to shout about with their work rate and desire. It's just awesome being a part of this right now and sharing it with good friends who have seen many lows over the years. Just incredible. Brilliant from RLB and the staff subs spot on again. Haway the lads.
I've no idea No.2 son has jut arrived back, gave me full run down of game, watched MotD coverage. Second run-through. Now left a very happy lad downstairs drinking whisky and enjoying life. Let's just enjoy it.
Absolute pleasure to read this thread. Just casually liking 100+ posts. It was me birthday 57 minutes ago. This match was the best present ever!
Cracking post, agree with every word. The support is unbelievable because there’s something to actually get behind, class.
This is the most abhorrent piece of communication I've ever seen. It's so spin focused it feels political. Absolutely ****ing appalling from their Comms team. It just makes them look small and bitter and I'm ****ing all the more delighted we beat them.
I am sitting at work in the middle of nowhere and find it difficult to comprehend where we are as a club. I watched last night as the second half was melting away and all I could think is we will get another chance, then Wilson slid into a 50/50 on the edge of the Chelsea box. **** me that is commitment from your centre forward, then a few minutes later a ball over the top and Xhaka controls cuts inside and the Chelsea defender makes a good block, and I thought maybe our chance had gone. In a room by myself at nearly midnight, have to be up at 4am but could not stop watching, then up steps Talbi and I was bouncing around my little room like a kid at Christmas.
To say I enjoyed that performance is an understatement. Truly amazing and everything us fans want from our team. Even though we conceded an early goal I always felt comfortable that we were going to get something out of the game. We went toe to toe with Chelsea and got our just rewards. As I have always said ‘faint hearts win f*ck all’ and there were no faint hearts there today. Last week I mentioned Traore as I felt he let the game go by him. Today I have to say he was immense. His work rate helping the defence, mainly Hume, was off the charts. I think in Traore we have a player who will grow as he gets more game time. Loved the connection between the players and fans when we got the late winner. These easy games like today are setting us up nicely when we play some of the harder teams. Heard a rumor that Chelsea might be world club champions but that cannot be true, right? That would mean they wouldn’t be easy to beat…lol. Disappointed in Chelsea I have to say. Some of the ****tery antics really? Left back with the long hair what a soft ****e acting like a hard man. Roll on next week…HTL!!!
Not to put a dampener on things but the ref yesterday was the worst-ref we’ve encountered all season all I’m saying on the subject
Yesterday was far from easy too how many more harder teams are they we’ve played Man Utd West Ham Villa going off reputation not current form only really got Arsenal Man City to play & we always spring a surprise against them too
I think it’s about time people stop with the narrative that every team we beat is because that team played crap. At what point do they say Sunderland made them look crap (which in my opinion we did yesterday) by restricting them the space they wanted and utilising how well we can effect a game without the ball. This is not aimed at anybody on here but more at the Chelsea blogs and club itself along with Jason Cundy who whilst giving us credit immediately followed that with how poor Chelsea were. Chelsea were playing well and moving through the gears through the first 2 thirds of the pitch but were not good in the last third because of how disciplined we were.
Still up a height from yesterday's game. We had them rattled to **** all game and we fully deserved the win. Tactically and physically we battered them, look at Isidors commitment sliding in against the centre half, Le Fees sliding tackle second half etc. We are becoming a very dangerous animal and its fantastic to watch
Match of the Day, "I'm not sure Stamford Bridge has been louder than this all season ... ... and it's all noise from those travelling Sunderland fans!" Apart from their goal he could've said that at any point, we hadn't even scored our winner
I was amazed that VAR didn't declare Gertrude offside and interfering with play for our winning goal.....perhaps the year of the underdog is continuing.
