I was with you, but I can't really think of any occasion (maybe Wrexham) where he's positively impacted the in-game play, either tactically or with subs. He's made things worse. Now there's accepting that there may be adjustment, and there's realising people need to learn stuff, but we're not a club that can afford to let that happen this season in reality. I'm sorry, Will, I do like you, but your time is up. He should go and get a job at an upper L1/low level Champ club that doesn't have huge expectation, and he may well end up being a good manager, but we can't afford to take that time.

It is worth remembering in all of this the pointlessness of it all. You cannot “win” football, or “complete” football. The top clubs can try to win trophies and measure success that way but for us the ceiling is somewhere around getting close to the big clubs who are struggling.


And S we saw in 2014-2016 the system is set up so that when you do that you get knocked back down again.


So what is the actual goal here? Entertainment. Winning games is fun. Attacking or Dynamic football is fun, so you hope for at least one of these.

Over recent years, managers I liked were Adkins, Poch, Ralph, and for the most part Koeman. They delivered on both fronts (until the last year or so for Ralph).

Puel got results but it was dull. I could tolerate that. Hughes too was pretty functional but got results.


Pellegrino failed on both counts and for a long time was the only manager I’d actively wanted sacked ahead of his departure. Jones joined that list pretty early on in his time here.
Russell Martin you could not argue with his results in the Champ season but as soon as we hit the Prem he also failed on both counts.



And so to Will Still. Resukts? Not so far. Entertaining or attacking? Also currehrly no. The 5 at the back fills me with so much deflation every time. If he was getting resukts this way then fine; if we were pounding down the door of trans but conceding unlucky goals then fine (Swansea for example) but too often we’re putting ourselves in the position to be unlucky. It’s not as dull as the Pellegrino years but it’s pretty uninspiring.

I’m really not that fussed if we go up or stay in the Champ . Going up I think inevitably leads to another dismal season next year eith the added frustrations of VAR. So the main aim has to be enjoying watching and listening to the Saints games and right now most of us aren’t.

I haven’t voted because I’m not certain it’s best he goes but on my above criteria he’s not currently hitting either target. So Will, either ditch the back 5 or start winning. Preferably both.

Before today’s game I was where you are but then he substituted Scienza and brought on Jack Stevens to make 4 CBs on the pitch FFS. It took me longer than most because I really wanted him to work out but today he demonstrated that he is (IMO) completely out of his depth.

In his post match interview his response was about needing to rest Scienza after 3 games in a week.


No issue there but you’ve got Robinson on the bench for the straight swap - would have been fine!

The guy is tactically inept, and nothing has improved since the first game of the season.

Wouldnt be surprised if he doesn’t make the next game

Isn’t he already at an upper L1 / Lower Championship team?

Anyhow, has to go, is hilariously bad right now. Excited to see who comes in. I was with Brendy in Carrick in the summer, and Carrick now.

Wouldn’t be surprised is we went back to RM.

Me; only because Ive lost all interest in who our manager is & don't see the point in sacking him, when it'll still be the same ****. The rot and problems are deep, and sacking another manager won't change that.

(Though quite frankly, if the players don't get the ****s put up them from someone actually called Adolf, then we really are lost).

I have idea what they will do. I don’t think they will go with Carrick, so you could well be right.

Surely they must have spoken with other people already.

As I said before, Hutter and Rose are both RB products, so suspect they'd be quite Sporsy (if unlikely to come).

Would be fine with Carrick or Carsley too, personally.

I wouldn't throw a wobbly if they brought Ralph back (though I suspect there may be too many bridges burned there).

I don't particularly want O'Neill.

But yeah, it's most likely to be Sven Huberstrander from the German 8th league or something.

So weirdly I said in the summer to my boys I’d like Carsley, thought he was tactically right for us. Could’ve been a good fit.

Right now I’d take Ralph back over RM, who I detested almost from the start.

Would be happy with Carrick who I’d have also taken in the summer, but like just said don’t think that is an SR type of person.
