We don't really have a 100% rivalry and we never will have because of our isolation. I'm happy to wait for matches that really matter because of our respective league positions.
spot on analysis TWF , This is the best campaign imagined in football too ! we have a fair bit in common with them , some of it probably unfair and rivalry is better than hugging one of the smelly *****
Here in Scarborough there are actually quite a fair few middlesbrough fans so I always expect a bit of rivalry anyway. To be honest, even in the Grimsby and scunthorpe rivalry days I was always pretty immune to it, I don't know anybody personally who supports either side and couldn't really care less about them.
So Percy has run out of internal enemies now? (Or keeping his own counsel?) Time to look for an external one!? Get a freaking life, Perce, and just enjoy the football.....
Genius..... On topic, do we really need to have yet another team we pretend we care about that we really don't? And i actually quite like Boro.....
Agree with the above, this is a load of ****e. I've never understood hatred of other clubs - just support your own team, who gives a **** about any others.
Although there is method in your madness, we would have the same problem as with Leeds as we wouldn't be Boro's no. 1 rival either as they have Newcastle, Sunderland and Darlo all in much closer proximity.
Can see where you are coming from Perce, but Middlesborough is furtehr away from Hull than Leeds, both Sheffield clubs, Donny and Scunny. Boro also already have the rivalry with the Mackems and Newcastle, not sure they'd be willing to make room for us. Our relative isolation from other clubs makes it difficult to strike a strong rivalry that we see between both Manchester clubs, both Liverpool clubs, North London etc. Though I imagine in the old division 3 days York was considered the biggest local game (after Scunny)?
I grew up in York so used to love the Hull-York matches because of all the banter with my mates - strange how the clubs have gone in different directions since those days. I'd quite like to see them back in the league nowadays.
