I think we need context here 1950. The ' best midfielder' (matter of opinion) had less than a year left on his contract, so the £7.5 m plus £2.5 are ons was a very good deal. Sainz was sold for about the going rate for his position and ability, so the two deals, while not outstanding, we're pretty decent. But anyone with an anti Knapper agenda could skew facts to fit this line.
I would say that both deals were good ones for two players both in the final year of their contract. Sainz had a purple patch in the first half of last season and then his scoring faded after the suspension for spitting. I also think that Kvistgaarden, Diallo and Topić will prove to be better options in our current style of play and we have yet to see what Mattsson will offer. Those four came in for a total of around £17m from the £24.5m we should receive from the sale of Sainz and Núñez. That's pretty good business IMO.

and we have yet to see what Mattsson has to offer

I'm really only going by those highlights videos but Mattsson appears to be in the Kenny mould. Wouldn't be surprised if he's been tracked for a while with the club assuming they would need a replacement for Kenny sooner rather than later. Kenny keeps proving his worth though so may be a while till we see Mattsson start.

We sold an attacker who was our leading scorer and featured in the Championship team of the season and our best midfielder for a combined total of under £25m - driven a hard bargain? Really?
At the beginning of the window the PinkUn, possibly the most in the know, said that the most likely values we would achieve for Sainz was around £10m and for Nunez £3-5m. So Knapper has achieved £10m over those estimates

The club has released its 24 man squad (one place left empty), including Duffy, Slimane and Adegboyega. Under 21 players do not require a place and those include: Ben Chrisene, Papa Amadou Diallo, Kellen Fisher, Oscar Schwartau, Lucien Mahovo, Gabriel Forsyth and Ruairi McConville as well as other U21 players like Myles and Mundle-Smith who have also featured for the first team.

Head of technical scouting and loan management, Robbie Thelwell, is leaving us to take up a post at Glasgow Rangers, where his father Kevin is Sporting Director.

A couple more outgoings. Please. Plus ancillary staff. I wanted Will Still as our new manager at end of last season, but would have been very happy with Jack Wilshire after the response of the players to him in those last two games. An SD with no experience would not select a manager with no experience.

Edit:- I have only just realised that we have absolutely zero loan players this season.

They are still unattached for a reason and without a Club will be nowhere near fit. Still unfit and useless - should fit in nicely!!

Can't see how he gets anywhere near their first 11 unless until DCL gets injured, even then I'd expect him to be 3rd choice behind Nmecha & Aronson.

That being said I'd be more than happy to sell him, January. Summer 2026 rolls around and expect offers from abroad, from our point of view he's not going to progress much further than he already has plus seems either unsuited to playing style or not getting involved as much.

Another Sargent rumour this time West Ham. As he has not scored in 12? matches, this rumour may be destined to become a damp squib

As it stands, Sargent is missing out on a home World Cup if he stays with us. I'd be amazed if he's not agitating for a move in January.

That could be, but would he be likely to score the goals he needs in a new team in the PL? I doubt it. Turbulent times.
It doesn't matter if it's the Prem, Bundesliga or La Liga - he's not getting into the USA team without an insane run of goalscoring with us, so he might as well roll the dice.

His next move is a make or break. I doubt he'll want to roll the dice. Moving to Leeds, for example, could be very risky. My hope is that he forms a good partnership with Kvistgaarden and they both begin to score freely.
