EH is an excellent manager. I think he makes mistakes with loyalty but I get it. I think he isn’t diverse enough in some transfers but we’re far more hit than miss. I don’t know how he’s to blame for the likes of Gordon, Joelinton and Elanga being so awful. Pope, Burn and Trippier aren’t what they were but ones out of position and trippier ordinarily wouldn’t even be playing. Criticism for me is just around an identity. We’re struggling.
The managerial influence is massively blown out of proportion in good and bad times imo. They're glorified PE teachers and you get some that are better than others, but ultimately it's what players the clubs got that matters most.
He didn't look fully fit on Saturday - and he is the one who makes us tick! He (along with Burn, Joelinton, Bruno, Elanga, Gordon and Woltemade) all were away with their national teams over the break and Sandro played the full first game and was subbed off in the 92nd min for Italy - so probably needs his mins managed atm. Not an excuse for the weekend but the commentators made a good point at the weekend - most of our starting XI were away over the break to all corners of the world and then head back and you've got to travel the second longest trip in the season with a day or two training before hand for most of the squad. Sandro for example will have done Forest match, then Newcastle > Italy > Estonia > Italy > Newcastle > Brighton all in about 10-12 days and played 4 games in 13 days. Bruno and Joelinton were out in Japan, others moving around Europe as well etc.
And that's the second international week already this season. A major piss take. This is why we really need to improve our back up choices and a major mistake in not investing in a third midfielder
If they want to bring in a winter break it should be 4 weeks Early December - January and just fill that with all your internationals needed.
