I think enough of our people have died preventing slavery if they want repatriations, take it from west Africans and Arabs who kept finding ways overland to keep the heinous trade going

 

Only so he could fine their owners, and 99% of the 'free' were villeins, serfs or indentured servants for life, which is pretty much slavery in all but name.

Correct. Wasn't saying William was a philanthropist. Just pointing out that by hook or by crook, slavery in Britain was outlawed very early on.

Every race in every region on earth have had slaves at some point. Britain were first to abolish slavery first within its boundaries and then attempted to abolish it worldwide by force and at great cost to the taxpayers until 2015 when the debt was officially paid off.

Yeah, but most of that money went to slave owners and traders as a bribe to stop, so the rich got richer and the poor foot the bill, as per. I wonder if the Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch get the same? They took over enough to populate South America (after trying to kill off the locals, of course).
Arabs and Chinese won't get any grief, mainly because they castrated them, so no descendants.
