I would say he brought it upon himself at times. From my view and I rarely had input as you couldn’t have a civil debate with him.

He would make some fair points, but also spouted lots of utter rubbish. He would then deem his view as a fact and therefore wasn’t discussable. Many situations descended into absolute tosh because he wouldn’t entertain people challenging his views. And on the majority of occasions, were very much far right.

I use to see myself as right of centre, but people like Os and IOAG make me feel like a leftie <laugh>

Did you ever see him making directly racist comments about terrorism? I would have permanently banned him just for that.

The laughable thing is that the Tories, that have lost their voterbase for being too close to the centre (or slightly left of in reality,) are trying to present themselves now as right of Reform and calling Farage a socialist. lol!

"The City" don't care who is in charge. hedgefunds make money on the downs and the ups...........if they are any good....and its often easier to gamble that a trend will go downward than upward!

It is not a question of Fareham failing to intégrate - many people who live there come from all over the UK. Any ethnic minorities are likely to be 2nd or 3rd generation, and are very few in number!

Just watching snippets on the news of Jenrick's speech today and he is obviously trying to copy Farage's oratory skills but misses it entirely. Farage has a natural Cadence very similar to Obama, who was also an amazing orator / communicator. I'm not talking about the message itself because that is different from being able to speak well and convincingly.

Jenrick is trying the same pause, word, pause, word that Farage does but gets it all wrong. Un natural. Maybe Kier could help him out with a vocal coach? Jenrick also misses the pace of Farage.

When Obama and Farage speak (I know you will hate me grouping these 2 together but in terms of natural oratory skills they are very very similar) they deliver in a reasonably fast natural cadence but then break to speak some important things with single words and a break inbetween them. Jenrick at his slower pace just sounds like a robot.

And that's not even getting into the way he has flipped to "right winger" when he saw the chance at the top job!

That was back in Ted Heath's. Since 1975, they have moved steadily to the right. As has the whole political spectrum. There is even a space for the Greens on the left since Labour has long abandoned that posición

If you read into that week a lot of the turmoil was caused before she even announced that budget by the "independent" BoE selling gilts off beforehand! Of course Truss is to blame mostly but what the BoE did in the leadup amplified the resulting crash by a lot!

Loads of Morris dancers in Winchester who are black face, I am afraid. More Filipinos , though.

Winchester had a pretty reasonable white South African population as well from what I remember going to Kings School. Wonder if they would meet Jenrick's criteria for different, or if that only applies to skin colour.

Money has always been the best indicator of having a nice life. Rather than the area’s whiteness. It is just that the one often coincides with the other.

Winchester is very nice and to my "uneducated" eyes is/was pretty similar to Lincoln. Historic city, smallish in modern city terms, Not the "political" powerhouse it was in old history. Not been down there for a decade now though and Lincoln is expanding like nobody's business swallowing up every bordering village.

My Mum is actually from Romford but was at King Alfreds teacher training college when she met my Dad. Most of my family lived in Abbots Barton although my Dad's brother has this posh house in South Wonston but then he was pretty high up in IBM back when IBM was at its peak!

(forgot to put in my previous post)

I have lived in Southampton since I was 2, but both my parents are Northern so I have a southern sounding voice with northern pronunciation.

    I'm afraid i'll never integrate :emoticon-0107-sweat

When I was very young (primary to first years at secondary,) kids at school would ask where I was from but when I went down South family would say "listen to that Northern accent" lol. My accent/dialect has turned into proppa Norf as I got older in youth and associated with the outside world though. Probably by my late teens I sounded more Northern than most of my mates from Lincoln families.

Sounds like you probably have the inverse accent of mine.

I'm an only child and the only one in my extended family raised south of Yorkshire and Lancashire, with a chunk in Scotland too. So always used to get stick for being from the Norf down here, but then get called a Southern softy whenever I was around any family.

Funny how it works because my accent definitely changes if I spend even a couple of days in Yorkshire, but reverts within about a week of coming home.

I think Northern accents definitely latch on pretty quickly if you spend any time up there, including 'North' East Midlands accents.

Yeah its funny listening to Polish that learnt English here compared to those that learnt in Poland. Northern vowel sounds with the Polish English accent makes me chuckle a bit :D
