There's no doubting the bloke possesses decent skill levels, but not sure his work ethic on the pitch helps us at times, yes I've seen him spasmodically chasing down but far too often the games have passed him by, he either gets his head back in the gane and gives 100% or he won't be donning a City shirt anytime soon. I like the way Jak is dealing with this team and it seems that 99.9% of the squad are on board, no room for a bad apple.

Think we might have lost. Gyabi still put the yards in to track runners, Palmer has a tendency to switch off and let them go.

and "do you think that would be a good excuse? that makes it worse if anything. its what we pay him for as the manager said"

    ??
Why would you fully prepare for a match if you've been told you're not involved?
Should everyone else in the 25 man senior squad and the U21's who wasn't to be involved in the game have been fully prepared for the 12.30 k.o., have gone through their normal match day morning preparations, etc etc. in order to be physically and mentally ready?? If you've been told you're not going to be involved, even more so when having been hauled off at HT (as one of the managers 3 selection mistakes) only a few days earlier, I reckon it would be quite normal & expected that you wouldn't be fully prepared.
Honestly, I think some are either picking an argument and / or looking for not even half an excuse to hang, draw & quarter a player for some reason.
And maybe re-read the very little that Jak actually said rather than focus on the media's attempts to blow up a story with their inflammatory angled questionning and comments (not Jak's)?

People in all industries are ‘on call’ and need to be prepared and ready to go at the drop of a hat. Why would a footballer on an enormous turnsnip be any different?

By the sounds of it he was '21st man' yesterday. I've got no problem with him not being happy not being in the initial squad/hauled off at half time the previous game. But injury or illness can strike anytime to a player in the squad in the lead up to a game so in my opinion he should have been fully prepared for the match.

Jak says nobody is bigger than the club, an obvious reference to Palmer's attitude, so I think we can safely assume something has gone on with him.

If Palmer seriously expects to be picked in his chosen position he needs to score goals and/or provide assists, something I can barely remember him ever doing. See ya.

Always thought Palmer seemed better when off the bench for 20 minutes. Don’t really notice him enough when he starts games.

Problem with that one is this paragraph:

"It's not about me," Jakirovic said when asked if there was any way back for the former Chelsea youngster. "He's a professional player, we pay him, so he needs to give everything for this club and this team."

Somethings clearly gone on - let’s hope it’s Palmer specific and not the first signs of a divide between players and coaches.

I wouldn’t call Palmer lazy, more so he’d just laid back. I’ve never seen him shirk tackles etc, he just doesn’t go that extra yard to get involved with the game when needed. Thats all mindset and drive.

Take Bowen for example, I’ve seen so many players with similar ability, but Bowen just never stops wanting the ball or trying to win it back and he always has desire to improve as a footballer.

To be fair to Palmer he was flying around the pitch in the Southampton and Oxford games.

There’s definitely not been a shortage of effort this season - he was just ****e against Preston.

I have it on good authority that one of the reasons why Palmer wanted to sign for us was that he thought Hull was a 30 minute drive to Manchester and wanted to live there. I wish that was a joke.

I thought Palmer was a weird signing for Walter from the beginning. He didn’t suit Sellés either.

Palmer is a stereotypical classic number 10 that has become a relic in today’s game. Most number 10s these days are either number 8s who play a bit higher, second strikers like Morgan Rogers or creative wingers who can play centrally. Palmer’s preferred role of standing behind the striker/s and waiting for the ball to come to him went out of fashion years ago. The last player like that at a high level was Özil and his career fizzled out.

He’s a luxury player most Championship teams can’t afford. Robins said as much when he was sold to us. I thought we should’ve sold him this summer. I would’ve kept one of Mehlem or Ömur over him.

You have said on many occasions that Acun picks and chooses the signings.

Go to the search bar type Acun signings, by Kalman ll and it shows loads of them. Here's one for example.

Lundstram is an Acun signing and Acun still wants McBurnie. Jakirović clearly wants Frigan. I don’t think we’ll get either. Frigan is desperate to come but McBurnie is playing silly buggers with his salary demands. I know which one I’d prefer.
