You certainly bet bigger than I would but fair play - my biggest single bet (years back now) was an accident - had been having a great day and had something like £883 in my account - intended to put the £83 on an 11/2 shot for the hell of it and withdraw the rest - but must have kept my finger on the first key for too long ... pressed confirm before clocking (coz I was rushing to get the price) and had put the full £883 on!! ... could barely watch - think the jockey might have been Callum Rodruguez - started his run up the outside with half a furlong to go and with 3 horses already flat out bobbing ... ****ing nod on the line - photo finish took ages - covered my phone and edged to my balance - had won - bought new underwear on the way home ...

Haven't had a bet for ages now - and find I don't miss it...

Good luck to you ... but never chase...

Yeah but their new keeper is equally as good, if not better, and definitely world class, so they will be fine.

I’ve done that before with my stake. Can’t remember the outcomes, now.

I’m actually very sensible with my betting. I try and tell people all the time, that betting big doesn’t make me a problem gambler. The problem gamblers spend all day every day, placing bets (however low or high the stake) on anything that moves. You can’t win that way.

I will chase to a certain point as well. Hate losing money. So if I’ve lost say £200, I might give myself another £50 or £100 to win it back. Then I’ll call it a day after that.

Gambling is in the blood. Me and my old man were always daft for it. I’ve been doing it nearly 30 year and it’s one of the big pleasures I get out of life.

You know I love my horses and for me, following a horse from about now when the jump season starts and following its progression to Cheltenham, is a huge thrill for me. I remember Indefatigable from quite a few years back, I knew it would go to Cheltenham that year from about November and when the Martin Pipe came around in March, it wasn’t one of the fancied horses. Opened up at 50/1. Won at 25/1. I had a big bet on that and I felt like I’d done the bookies that year, as it was massively overpriced and I’d spotted it months earlier. I love that feeling, it’s like no other, for me.

    Slot:

"We don't need to rely on Ekitike going one-on-one with the goalkeeper and getting pulled on his shoulder three times and trying everything to stay on his feet, like our players mainly do. And one minute later a player goes to the ground after this [imitates small contact] and goes to the ground like it's the worst hit he has ever had and the referee gives a penalty.

"Again, this can happen and we should be better than that, that it doesn't matter if we have luck or no luck or whatever.

"By the way, if we had the same referee we had against Galatasaray, we wouldn't have lost against Palace. Because this one blew his whistle exactly after eight minutes.

"But again this has nothing to do with the current results. We need to do better."

The only time I bet a larger than normal amount was for us to win the Championship under Rafa.

This worked out cos I managed to cash out, then put some on Brighton when we were clear of them, then cash out some of that and put it on us when they were 7 points ahead of us with 3 games to play.

Just banked that and just do accas at small bets since then.

I wasn't quoting anyone in particular, didn't even know you'd said anything on the subject

I do know a certain armchair telly clapper had previously though.

But yeah, that is the narrative. Because no Liverpool fan has ever instantly decided a new signing is world class, ever, obviously.

Looking back, Solid has said they had a decent 2nd choice.

Hadn't even seen that, but it's at least a reasonable assessment with none of the Sucky, never seen him play, hyperbole.

i replied to the same post you did and all clubs have have fans who make wildly exaggerated claims for their players not just us after all look how many times since Fertguson left have your fans got over excited about new signings being the ones that will bring back the glory days .
