The subs are not the issue for me. It’s the tactics. He went into panic mode that last 15 minutes.

We don’t seem to end games well.
Wrong. He took a tactic which we have used successfully before. A tactic which just about every manager has used. We did not panic and am totally unable to find any shred of evidence to back this up. Care to share?

I only hope that when we start playing the teams we should be beating, we get the 3 points.

Leeds we went with a defensive set up that in my opinion invited unnecessary pressure and didn't allow our players to shine, we have some talented lads but right now we constrict them too much.

Howe learnt from the Spaniards after he got sacked at Bournemouth and he's returned a better coach, but he absolutely plants himself in the Pep school of management, that players have a job to do and that job should be done. Players come to Newcastle and stop having shots, they try to pass it into the back of the net. It's very easy to read and predictable.

I'd like to see some creative flair, because to be honest, we are ****ing boring to watch.
The Leeds game we only had one striker and that striker was Osula. No wonder we didn't score. But you were right, far too defensive in that match.

Disappointing end to the game yesterday, proper gutting! And while I agree the subs weren’t great (Miley for Tino, Willock for Joelinton imo - stuck with the midfield 5) we are just shy of par for the course so far this season - probably 2 less points than I’d have expected before a ball was kicked

0-0 Villa - disappointing result against 10 men but probably what I’d have hoped for away from home
2-3 Liverpool - no one expected a point especially down to 10 men
0-0 Leeds - the game I think we expected to win but didn’t - second home game for Leeds back in the big time was always going to be difficult but points dropped
1-0 Wolves - right result and deserved 3 points
2-1 Barcelona - decent performance and could have had more
0-0 Bournemouth - never get anything there so a decent clean sheet
4-1 Bradford - as expected
1-2 Arsenal - too raw to have any sensible thoughts on yet but arsenal Would have been the bookies favourite.

Maybe you look at Villa and think should have won that one but we had no strikers - and in the main we are almost exactly where I expect us to be so far bar the Leeds game. We have 6 new players and potentially 4/5 starters in Thiaw, Ramsey, Elanga, Wissa, Woltermade all trying to get used to it here.

If we’d had Wissa/Woltemade in those first few games we’d have a few more points on the board already Im sure.
Ah, a sensible critique as opposed to an extreme panic and throw the baby out with bath water observation.

Another one the Ref and VAR ****ed upon

law 12

VIOLENT CONDUCT

Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.

this was behind the refs back and VAR should have intervened

Got to say been impressed by the little I’ve heard out of Woltemade, speaks well, seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

100% that should have been a red but equally though big Joe was a little lucky, blatant booking and then sarcastically clapping and giving thumbs up to the ref. Also still think it was a pen from Gabriel, so he was lucky to be on, lucky not to have gifted us a chance for 2-0 and then he goes and nicks a winner… ****ing typical

Just shows how poor VAR is used in this country
getting old pals to over rule you is not going to happen much

had VAR been implemented correctly and corrected the ref on 4 or 5 occasions as it should have in this game,
this would just show up the incompetence of the refs on the field -not going to happen with the old pals brigade at Lancaster Gate

what a load of bollocks

how could anyone say 100% that the ball hit his body
and there is no way that the ref could have spotted that the ball hit his body
even with 4 different angles it's impossible to see so how come the ref sees it
****ing cheating bastards l

Yes the result.
So, by that logic, if we lose we have panicked? Doesn’t make much sense to me.

Throw in the blatant penalty late on which we should have been given and the likelihood of scoring that penalty could easily have meant that we won. In which case, I assume, that would have meant we didn’t panic and that EH was a tactical genius, or not.

Your post to me, therefore, doesn’t make sense. The difference between us panicking or not panicking being a clearly wrong decision made by PB’s close friends.

they passed the ball around a lot and kept possession, a bit like what Barcelona did and won by the odd goal like Barcelona did

we are not going to play Barcelona, Arsenal Liverpool every week

I only wish Voltamade wore a short sleeve shirt or get a shirt were the arms fall off when pulled
his baggy shirt doesn't show how much he is being pulled back like again at Bournemouth
it seems like refs have a different thresholds on pulling shirts
We should make him wear a skin tight one and grease him up before entering the field of play. That'll sort em Trev.

Yeah we got schooled in every area for most the game. The only impressive players were Botman Livramento and Thiaw..

Guimareas Tonali and Joelinton were ****e and the wingers at the club a need replacing. Gordon? What the hell has happened to him?

Where are all the players Howes improved?
The ones he improved are the ones hounded out as Ashley players.
Botman beaten all ends up by Merino for their first goal.

That "attack" on Woltemade would be a locking up and charged with assault offence if done on the streets. Hope that dirty Brazilian cnut gets his karma for that sooner rather than later

He should have been off. Don’t understand how he can’t get a retrospective red though as the ref didn’t see it. Not being mentioned though

Irrelevant that it’s against the run of play. You said we did nothing yet we scored. It’s not disallowed because it’s against the run of play.

Not sure i said we did nothing, i said outplayed, of course you can still get the odd corner etc even if the other side is better, and we scored from one.
