Just watched the extended highlights of the game
It was a
clear handball by the Arsenal player in the box from the shot by Elanga
the ref should have seen this and awarded a penalty as his view was unimpeded by others
he then should have let VAR have a look at it,
and as there is
NO clear evidence that the ball has ricocheted off the Arsenal players leg
then the penalty should have stood
by not doing his job correctly and playing by the Laws of the Game he has allowed VAR to re-ref the game
This is down to the incompetence of the Referee
He was quick to point to the spot on an
assumption that there was a foul by Pope
as there was no way he could have seen the incident from his angle
VAR then did it's job and showed the ref the angle he didn't have
