The GF for 2022-23 and 2023-24 beg to differ.

< never let the facts get in the way of a good story >

You're making the rather simple mistake of measuring Kane's game on goals scored alone.

He was so much more than that. We may have compensated for his goals, but we missed (and still miss) his creativity, his hold-up play and, which is never discussed, the fear he struck into opposition defences that meant teams would never dare to push too many men forward in case they left him in space. By contrast Richarlison and Solanke are about as scary as a bag of lavender scented cotton wool.

Want to do it on GA as well ??
Have at it, and find yet again that "the numbers don't lie" .

I don't really care about the numbers.

League position and quality of performance are what I care about.

No one was dancing in the streets of Haringey over the fact that we had the best GD in the bottom half of the table last season.

Very frustrating game last night. It’s probably the one game that’s wound me up more than any other over at least the last year or so.
The performance was simply appalling. Seeing as it was a home game, a bottom placed side devoid of confidence should have been put to the sword in the first half, but apparently we forgot how to play football. We should never have got to a position where they had the belief they’d win that.
A very lucky point in the end, but we deserved nothing.

This was the first game I watched since PSG
(1. how fickle my vowing is 2. blame me for anti-rcl-ing :( :) ) .

It just so happened to be the first time that
Frank Spurs were likely to face PL Portu-ball.
And they failed.

The question Frank is now being asked is
whether if he assumes all opponents bar the
usual suspects attempt to set up as Wolves
and Bournemouth did, can he select the
formations + starting XIs to prevail.

If not, then things will become like last season
very quickly indeed.

So in summary, the absence of Kane was not
actually significant in the decline of Spurs under Ange.

This is where I stand. Games like this, we should be winning. Yesterday’s game reminded me of last year when Ipswich finally won a game at our ground.

GK too

Need a really solid number one. Ange going for Vicario over Raya was one hell of a clanger

Yeah I think we could probably do with a new one now. I’ve often felt he’s been a bit overly criticised but now that we’ve been strengthening elsewhere it’s probably time to try and get a top GK. Not sure who’s out there just yet but I think it should be priority in the summer, gotta sort LW ideally in Jan and I hope we dump a good £60m+ on that, then prioritise an upgrade in goal.

So on what basis are you saying that
"this is a game we should be winning" ??

More so given that Wolves in recent years
have been doing to Spurs what Spurs
have been doing to Citeh.

Man City vs Spurs is not comparable to Spurs vs Wolves.

Besides, I suspect Man City fans are pretty much disgusted and annoyed when teams beat them at their home ground. Just as much as I am when teams beat us at home. Especially those that come to win their first win of the season.

I'm fully entitled to be frustrated by yesterday's results without feeling the need to justify myself!

The last Spurs keeper that I was completely happy with was Brad Friedel. Played like a traditional British goalie , yes I know he was American but he commanded his area in the way that was always the first requirement of a strong keeper. Even Lloris never convinced me in that area. Now we seem to go for the shot stopper as first choice. I think it's possible Kinsky could develop into a number one.

It is.
Supporters of one club stating that the game
against another is one they should be winning.

Each victory has to be earned and not assumed.

"I'm fully entitled to be frustrated by yesterday's results"

I'm saying : don't be.
Unless of course you derive physical
power/pleasure from the rage it induces in you. :)

Assume you are going to get any number of such
games as Frank attempts to purge the squad
of some very long-entrenched malaises
(I wish him good fortune in that battle) .

Trust me...watching Spurs is much more enjoyable if you stop believing this Spursy and Dr Tottenham nonsense. We are no more likely to do something Spursy or get an opponent out of a losing streak than any other team of a similar standard. Yet every time I read a match day thread I see people claiming that we are bound to concede a last minute goal or we will never score if we are losing. They are wrong most of the time but it doesn't stop them.

Perhaps commanding the area isn’t as important as shot stopping....
People often judge goalkeepers on errors but a goalie who never makes a mistake is probably too cautious and letting in unnecessary goals.

Have you resorted to trolling your own fans now? Where does “rage” feature in anything I’ve said?

All I’m saying is, there are certain games where I expect spurs to win. Our home games, regardless of the quality of our opponents, are those I expect to win.

However, I accept we won’t win them all so I try to keep my frustrations to a minimum but I simply abhor teams coming to Tottenham to claim their first wins of the seasons!
