Anyone been on one of the new metros? The Mrs has and says the 3 seats are ridiculously small and no social distancing for women. She said she was one of three women sitting on one, sitting on the end, but you couldn't help from rubbing/touching the person who was sitting in the middle. She's now thinking of having to travel off-peak. Also, moving about the carriage feels less safe as there are less hand grabs. Anyone else experienced any other issues?
Last time I was on it, 3 lads got on 2 with bikes and one carrying an electric scooter - you know the ones that are banned on the Metro They couldn’t care less about the safety of other passengers and no staff to be seen anywhere.
It's quieter... was talking to a BR track inspector and he says they are dangerous for the railway workers as they can sneak up on them travelling at speed
That's what the horn is for mate. Driver should be giving track workers plenty of notice and be prepared to use the emergency brake if necessary. Being the Metro as well though, they should know they run regularly and be keeping a regular look out.
Used one a couple of times for short journeys. Can't comment too much, as I was only on for about 4 stops and it's was mid day and quiet each time. But not particularly impressed all the same. Seats are on the sides, so they can pack more in standing, the journeys were a bit more quiet than the old ones and a bit smoother, but that might actually be because of how knackered the old ones were. People think the metro is great, until they use it regularly. I'm not sure whether it's a case of it's ambition outstripping it's ability or whether it's just neglected and under funded.
