When I look at other clubs in Asian and Middle East ownership it often doesn’t go well Thinking of the issues Sheffield Wednesday currently have, plus Blackburn, Cardiff, even the Gas etc
I honestly don’t know what this would mean. Would he buy the whole Bristol Sport enterprise or just the football club? Is the real estate included in the deal? Would he be able to ‘splash the cash’ despite FFP? I doubt it - unless we went 5h1t or bust and gambled on getting promoted and staying there like Bournemouth and Villa did……

I would be surprised if Steve L sells to the Saudis you would have thought he would have contacts in all parts of the world that may have an interest. The only reason I can see him selling if he wants out sooner rather than later.

The breakup and selling has commenced -personally thank Steve L who has transformed Bristol City into an upper end championship side. The man should be given the freedom of Bristol. The man has done well and should enjoy his later years doing what he wishes. Thanks Steve for all you have done.
you can run separately "owned teams within Bristol Sport" so he can [SL] still own that as a separate company, likely to maintain a % stake! I dont think that POSSIBLE HAS £BNS TO SPEND!

Another gone before the takeover- Gavin Marshall to leave Bristol Sport 24 September 2025 Share Bristol Sport can confirm that Chief Executive Officer Gavin Marshall will step down at the end of next month to take up a new role with the Welsh Rugby Union. Marshall joined the Bristol Sport Group as Chief Financial Officer in 2016, was appointed to the Bristol City, Bristol Bears and Bristol Flyers boards in 2017 before transitioning to Group CEO in the summer of 2022. As a particular advocate for women’s sport, he has been Chair of Bristol City Women since the Covid-19 pandemic alongside his directorship of Bears Women, with both teams undergoing dramatic transformation during his tenure. Notably, he has helped Bears Women secure a franchise in the new Professional Women’s Rugby league; City Women adopting Ashton Gate as their home ground, along with both women’s sides moving into the clubs’ respective High Performance Centres; and last week completing on the sale of a majority stake in Bristol City Women to Mercury13. Commenting on his move to WRU, Marshall said: “It has been a privilege to be part of the Lansdown family’s sporting group. For almost a decade I have lived and breathed our multi-sport offering, and I am proud to have played a part in helping drive record growth across all five sports teams during that time. It’s a leap into the unknown for the club if true. Very risky and I’m extremely uneasy about the whole thing. It could be the best - or the worst thing for us. Even some Gasheads are warning against it - not that we mere fans can do anything about it mind…….. I’ll be keeping an eye on things from Munich. I’m off to the Oktoberfest first thing in the morning - staying until Tuesday. I’ve been in training all week - and practicing my best German!! Prost!
