Essentially anyone saying we're not playing very well and not creating anything isn't being unreasonable and anyone attacking them is adopting ad hominem.

 

I don't mind the three at the back. Thiaw had glimpses, Botman was our best and Burn has always been a good leader. Hall needs time, Livramento is going to be inconsistent but will improve. My issue is the wide players, they just don't work in that formation as it all gets too defensive. 5-3-2 would work far better and we have the players to do it. 4-3-3 against weaker sides where we can take the game to them, 5-3-2 in harder matches. B'mth, however, isn't a team we should be fearing. If we're afraid of B'mth, who are we actually going to give it a go against? We couldn't beat ten man villa or Leeds either. Wolves was a slog.

It's not clicking and I don't quite see what Howe's trying to achieve bar keeping a clean sheet. There was no shape to the attack whatsoever.

Also felt Howe was piss poor in-game as usual. The changes were baffling. Surely take off Burn or Thiaw for Bruno and go 4-3-3 to try and win the match? Miley should've been hooked as well, never seen anyone pass it backwards so much.

It's like getting to half time, having been second best and creating nothing, then leaving the same XI on the pitch - why? Then through the second half when we didn't have a single shot surely a change was needed and even worked on ahead of the match?

At this stage of the season, it just looks to me like we've made yet more poor recruitment decisions and Howe's run out of ideas.

Maybe the ambtions are simple like finish top half and give the cups a go again?

 

If Thiaw was sent off AND Woltemade didn't get a pen then it would have been clear bias.

VAR should allow the ref a second look. He can make his own mind up, but the whole point is surely that he gets an angle he can't see from where he's standing? Another bullshit decision.

 

60 mins again so they were pre planned.. Newcastles bench chew gum, but they aren't making changes based on the contest I don't think.. It's a pre determined game plan executed every time. The only exception being injuries or cards.

I understand people saying another point, talking about the plusses and even referencing the quantity of milk they see in their cup, but we've got Arsenal next and every week we're losing ground on clubs only playing once a week. Newcastle have to win more games and that's the bottom line.

I couldn’t see a clear game pattern to win the game mind. It was structured not to lose and felt like a Benitez masterclass.

We didn’t lose and that’s a massive positive for me.

Not having a shot in the second half is poor mind.

It’s a point. We move on and we take it to Arsenal at home.

 

If we beat Arsenal which we could do things change.

We have not played well much at all this season and I’m not seeing any positive changes that influence games.

 

I think also the point is that anyone using this start to the season as a means to predict things and say what's going to happen is stupid.

We usually start slow and this season it's been extra impacted by the Isak ****. Clearly we aren't in full flow yet but will be soon.

And things could be worse - look at Villa.
