I struggle to run, I twisted my knee a while back and I can do a very slow and steady 5k but trying to increase the pace or distance just sets my knee off. All around the outer edge of the kneecap and underneath. I’ve got a proper downhill MTB recently and riding that around on its 12 speed gear set is a ****ing workout, just feels like a chore having to wash it all down when it gets covered in mud after rain. I wish I could run properly and regularly, even though I find it mind numbingly boring, it’s a quick and easy calorie burner and I probably wouldn’t have these little jiggling boobies
Yes. No I live 100 mile away. Typically adventures around the peaky d and places like Sherwood pines, Cannock chase etc. it’s a bike built for a purpose, it’s really not comfy or geared for just going out for a ride.
Most cardio gets boring after a while if dont have a specific goal with a defined improvement curve - have you tried a Garmin/Apple Fitness Watch and App - then can do a program that constantly challenges you (keeping your heart rate/run speed over a set value etc) - basically like training with a personal trainer without the cost and the embarrassing small talk after you **** yourself when training after a heavy night. Records everything so can easily see where to improve etc. I'm not built for too much running - 189cm and 100 kg and my knees can't handle sprinting anymore either, as ****ed them playing rugby and skiing with poor technique, so I've got a concept 2 rowing machine and use a racing app to make it interesting, rather than just a laborious slog staring at the wall and feeling the pain. If I feel that I'm flagging, put Aphex Twins come to daddy on to rev me up. Not sure I'll ever retire now, so have to keep match fit!
The best cardio is doing something you enjoy. When we were younger this was playing football, rugby or whatever. As we get older it can be tough to find something fill that space. Or it's something you have to do that just happens to be good strenuous cardio. A physical job or cycling to work. I try to cycle to work. But it gets pretty demoralising when you have to pull over with a puncture for the umpteenth half way through a 6-7 mile ride. Whatever you do, cardio shouldn't be a chore. If you don't enjoy going to the gym then you're never gonna stick it out.
