My partner and I quite enjoyed Heretic too, and the rather different side of Hugh Grant's acting abilities. I think we may try Weapons as a follow-up.

Well I have dragged my partner to the local Cineplex to see "Weapons". At least it is a Tuesday, so "cheap movie night", so only $5 each (and that is CDN). I heard a review of a couple of new "divorce" theme movies just out, one is "The Roses" (an update of earlier movie, "War of the Roses" that the reviewers didn't care for), the other one the reviewers really liked, but I cannot recall the name. It is "Spltzville" and attached is a link to the review I listened too comparing it to "The Roses".

Well.........it was rather bizarre and at a couple of points in the movie my partner wanted to leave. So I guess the missing kids were the "weapons", but the saving grace was that the child actor playing the role of Alex was very good. So I guess "Splitsville" up next (when it comes to town, although everything seems online these days if you are willing to pay), which could be my situation if I bring my partner to any more movies like "Weapons". The movie audience was predominantly young student types, mostly females in groups. We seemed to be the only early 70's type folks in attendance.

Oddly, though I know he is epic live, I’ve kind of gone off Mr Cave.

I remember you saying so, and everything I’ve seen backs this up, but I was outraged at the prices he was charging and I made the mistake of looking at his Red Hand Files website, where he answers fans questions and comments….a huge undertaking, but man it’s pompous and very religious.

But some of those songs live - Mercy Seat, Stagger Lee, Tupelo - must be great.

I’m currently at spotty hotturds ground, I have to admit it’s nearly as good as Loftus Road.
I really dislike the Spuds (maybe going back to ‘82,) and their fans are a moaning bunch of ****s,

Have you heard this? It’s incredible and I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually witnessed the flood…

Noticed in the gents at The Wellington, a great pub on Bennett’s Hill in the centre of Birmingham, where I have spent most of today, an advert for the Bull, a pub in Price St a 15 minute walk away. Turns out the two pubs have the same gaffer. Wandered down to the Bull and it is an epic old school boozer, highly recommended (as is the Wellington). So perfect I nearly cried.

So if I ever happen to be in Brum, will definitely visit the Bull and the Wellington pubs? Were you just passing through, so in transit or do you live within striking distance? What is your brew of choice at those pubs. A couple of years ago when my partner broke her favourite Boddington beer mugs when I attempted to find a replacement the single point, 20 FL oz (16 here) mugs were silly prices + s.hipping (from UK), but I found a whole case of 12 Boddington mugs for £19.99 + £20 shipping to Canada from a former Boddington publican in Manchester, who also included so.e nice Boddington beer mats. He said that beer went out of production around 2005, then someone else made a variation of it outside of Manchester until production stopped around 2013. I was just curious as to what the original Manchester Boddington beer was like?

I’ve been trying to get into the Bowie exhibition at the V and A East, they are free but go quicker than Radiohead tickets, so I thought I’d just turn and be polite. It worked however advertised as 90000 Bowie artefacts, only one room with things on show, although that was interesting the rest were in boxes on shelves or clothes in bags 15 feet above you. Yes it’s a warehouse so you end up looking around a warehouse full of things packed away.
    I enjoyed being there though.
The rest of the “warehouse experience” was exactly that, lots of high shelves packed with stuff that can’t be viewed. What was on show was a hotchpotch of interesting things with no grouping or labels.
    Interesting but won’t hurry back

They've been advertising a new podcast hosted by Kate Moss all about Bowie in the 70-75 period on 6 Music this week, called Changeling...
