The "Highly qualified lawyer" at the top of government is a human rights barrister. A very lucrative, but limited line of law, as it does not need to consider anything like the precedent of common law. He is not interested in stopping illegal immigration, though he would like it to look like he is.
Illegal immigration cannot be stopped while any country is a signatory to the ECHR, or the UN conventions on refugees and asylum seekers. Most illegal immigrants are young single men who have had the money to pay traffickers money to get here.
Clearly, they are very rarely either of the two, and even where they are, both conventions state that any refugee or asylum seeker should reside in the country to which they have fled, and not make their way through a continent of countries, helped on their way, on route to here.
EU law states that the recieving country must make accomodation for them, obviously an absurd state of affairs.
The government has said that they will never even appeal an ECHR decision, or any other decision made by a supra national body. Hermer was adamant on this point. The ECHR has always judged on the side of illegal immigrants, here and elsewhere, though not all signatories take full notice.
It is not about Oswald Mosely, it is about successive governments telling blatant lies and treating people like fools.
