His 'confidence' in both Rayner and Mandelson has really shown him to be clueless. That fact that a few weeks ago he admitted he hadn't read a speech before delivering it was quite an eye opener. It can only be a matter of time, the Labour Conference will be an interesting barometer...

Appointing Mandelson was obviously a horrendous mistake. However, I for one did not know about Mandelson's undying love and support for Epstein so have been rather surprised that it is only now one year later that politicians and journalists are making the point that every one knew about it before Mandelson was appointed. Perhaps my memory is failing me but I don't recall anyone mentioning it at the the time. As for Rayner what did he do wrong? It's easy enough to jump on a bandwagon.

But if politicians sign up to an ethical code in the belief nobody knows what they have done wrong in the past and are then made to walk the gangplank when they are found to have crossed the line that seems to me to be correct in principle.

By Christ! I've not watched Newsnight for months because it has - in common with nearly all BBC current affairs programming - become unbearably right wing biased. I thought I'd take a peek tonight after the Charlie Kirk shooter turned out not to be the 'left wing radical' that Trump and his acolytes immediately declared him to be, thinking that there might be some mild criticism of the fascistic nature of Trump's regime. Not to be, though. They decided instead to invite a far-right pal of Kirk on and give his tummy a tickle. Pathetic.

Three million would have clogged every train and road in every direction. Six figures, probably low six figures, but not seven I’d be fairly certain.

I believe it was something about back-to-back QPR wins. Can’t be sure.

Twenty-six officers have been injured while policing a protest organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, which saw up to 150,000 people march through central London.

Tensions flared at the Unite the Kingdom rally, with some protesters throwing bottles and other projectiles at police, the Metropolitan Police said – leaving four seriously hurt.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk spoke to protesters on Whitehall via videolink, while 5,000 people joined a nearby counter-protest organised by Stand Up To Racism.

Quite peaceful relative to the two years of celebrating Hamas every couple of weeks in the capital.

I'm aware that I've gained a reputation, not wholly undeserved, for being a bit bolshy and argumentative on here after coming back from the pub. To any I may have unduly offended on these occasions, I apologise. Mostly, though, this has been sparked by pub conversations with people whom I'm supposed to call friends, but with whom I strongly disagree on a range of issues. You can disagree and remain friends though, right? Not really. I've just had a major verbal falling out with several people whose views I can no longer tolerate and I think I've burnt some bridges. This makes me very sad, but I remain angry.

'I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANY MORE!'

(A point for the film reference)

We're talking about people I've known for 50 years that went on the Tommy Robinson march yesterday. No way back from that.

    And you win the point.

I’d argue life is too short to not spend it with people who agree with you on everything.

The Haribo youths behind me at Wrexham tried to get a “Keir Starmer’s a ****er” chant going a couple of times with no success.

It's not a question of wanting to spend time with people who agree with me on everything. We've always disagreed on a range of things, politics being the most contentious, but there's been a shift in recent times. The people I'm talking about seem to me have become 'radicalised' towards open racism and support for people who call for the overthrow of a democratically elected government and who believe that 'civil war is inevitable'.

    Too much for me.

But you called for the overthrow of the last conservative government and if I remember rightly they were democratically elected. Just another example of why your friends ditched you
