That little blighter in the top left hand corner "Autosave" is half the problem. It's a "helpful" little addition to the latest version of Excel that autosaves your files. That means it's potentially saving errors and then not saving corrections. I keep switching it off but like those annoying "safety" features in your car, it switches it back on again......
