I'm on the fence with it, happy to wait to see what evidence she provides.
If what she has said in an interview is true, she should be able to prove it, and I'm not that confident she is clever enough to know about this ****. That's not saying she didn't try and evade tax, we all do if we ask the question on how to pay less. But not going to hang her just yet, metaphorically speaking.
I'll quote my previous comment on the topic, to try and avoid what I say being associated with other comments on here.
I said I was on the fence with it and I was. After the news today and probably even when the news broke, I felt a bit sorry for her, but when I ask myself why, I come up with two responses, one is she is not the brightest tool in the box, second is she actually wasn't doing a bad job, especially when you put my point one back in the equasion.
I think my first bit of advice for her before going in front of the camera, would have been, when you say you were told x y z, you better have it in writing before even saying that. If you haven't got it in writing you aint got a leg to stand on.
We all do it, how much do they want, is there a perfectly legal way of getting it cheaper, why wouldn't you explore that avenue, it's not criminal, it's commonsense practice, unfortuantely she got led down a rabbit hole, the i's weren't dotted and t's certainly not crossed, but hey **** happens.
MP's have done far worse, and it shouldn't be about them and us, this is why politics becomes all populist, ignore Farage, ignore everyone, and put your hand on your heart and form your own opinion about what happened.
I was disappointed, certainly not delighted when I heard she'd resigned, I really hoped she was going to step forward with something in writing, and prove the doubters wrong...i sort of say with tongue in cheek, if only she'd listened at school...although I don't remember tax avoidance being on my weekly lesson schedule.
All those bastards out there who duck and dive the system and get away with it, poor Angela was just caught like a rabbit in headlights, at least it will make for a good novel for her, and she'll reap far in excess of the £40k, so she's not really the loser here, politics is along with her dream of being PM.
