Well first off Chelsea thought the exact same thing and it didn't work out for them, if they're willing to let him go.
Secondly it wouldn't just be upsetting Defoe, it may also ruin Adebayor's current good temperament, if he's left out of the side.
If you don't drop him, then you probably have to leave out van der Vaart, which would knock his settled state.

You either risk disrupting the side or damaging the system for a player that may be in an irreparable nosedive of form, who would bust our wage ceiling by a mile and who might look for a move almost instantly if he does recover.
That's if this story is even true.

Personally I'd prefer to see us sign someone like Ivica Olic, who I think could do a great job but wouldn't need to start every week.

Well said PNP, as you and I and YV, and doubtless others have said, we need back up for Ade, ie a replacement for Pav.

Even if we don't manage to sign the likes of Kaka, Tevez or Torres, it's great that the lazy hack journos believe we could <ok>

Who said Pav 2 coz he sounds like the obvious replacement for Pav.

That was me. Pav II would be a perfect replacement for Pav I, however the problem is that we don't want or need Pav I :D
Knowing how stubborn Levy appears to be with transfer fees received i fear having both Pav I and Pav II on the books at the same time and that could cause a rip in the space-time continuum (or insert correct back to the future terminology here)

Other issues that any major striking signing would bring up are Defoe and the possibility of upsetting Adebayor.

If we signed one of these strikers, then the diminutive striker would want to leave.
Adebayor wouldn't want to stay if he wasn't playing.
That would mean bringing in another player to replace Defoe and the possibility of some disruption to the squad.

Tough - as I've said before Defoe can either start for a mid table side or be a squad player for a top four side - up to him.

Class is permanent, form is temporary and Torres is class. If we can get him we shouldn't hesitate. Same for Tevez

Well his temporary bad form has lasted two years and counting now.
