Meant to be heading to the pub on sunday for the big game (avondale's to be precise) as none of my friends have a place big enough to crowd round and watch the tv. I now see that sky are showing three, yes three, live games on the sunday too. You don't think that the pub would dare show these instead do you...? QPR v United and Villa v Liverpool run over it to be precise.

Surely the pub wouldn't be that stupid, but I don't want to be stranded in town without anywhere to watch it :emoticon-0101-sadsm.

Just thought I would see what you guys think.

A quick phone call to the pub may calm your fears surely. That way at least you will know their intentions.

Ooh dear..! If you're that worried, I would suggest you make sure you get a recording of the game, as a backup. There have been a number of times over the last years where I've settled down to watch a MotoGP race on a Sunday, only to be called away. Every time, I've had my HDD/DVD recorder making a copy, just in case. Hardly missed a minute, since then.

I think it's safe to say that anywhere showing live football in Southampton or Portsmouth will be showing the game. A mini-riot is likely to occur in any establishment who don't.

They can all show the first half of QPR-Man Utd, and then at HT (which will be about 12.50) switch over to the BBC1 for a quick look at the team-sheets, and then the match itself in full.

No-one would surely dare not to show it. They wouldn't have any punters on Sunday (for a couple of hours at least) if they didn't.

I went to Avondale house once and they didnt show the Saints game. They had advertised, and therefore showed another team instead. Might even have been pompey playing, dont remember exactly. Needless to say I wasnt happy.

Sorry to go massively off-topic but didn't there used to be a Car-Hire shop in the building..? I'm almost certain I hired a SAAB years ago from there.

I noticed this as well, no doubt some pubs will have to show the sky games due to some contract etc blah blah... Phone the pub and find out like someone has already suggested or find a pub like me where the owners are saints fans! :D
