IMO it's definitely the case here, I'd be doing exactly the same if I was working in/for those clubs, its a chance to get a great player(s) for a better price then you would if our club wasn't in this position. Re the agents, they get up to all sorts and if they feel they can line their pockets then they will, either by a player moving or getting them an improved contract
If true, looks like Pandur is off. His replacement? A Turkish player from the Turkish league on a loan with no option.
Unfortunately we need the ££, I said not so long ago, it would be him or Hughes if Kamara didn't happen and with that one hitting a bump then we may have no choice.
More worryingly, in the short term, is Phillips going to be in tomorrow to avoid any possibility of a Pandur injury?
Well he's Besiktas' back up keeper; he's pretty good but given that Pandur has lived here two years, speaks English and has proven to be, at worst, a solid option for us and at best fantastic, it's one hell of a risk. Besiktas also only have Mert Gunok as their senior keeper so I'm not sure why they'd let Destanoglu out unless they were getting somebody in. They were linked with Uğurcan Çakır at Trabzonspor earlier this Summer and with Yalcin likely to come back, he'll want the keeper situation sorted. I can't see it myself, but I've been wrong before and who the **** knows with this owner? Like I said earlier this week, City wanted another keeper anyway and goalkeepers tend to be an exception to the "one in one out" rule because they're essential parts to a team (same reason you're allowed an emergency loan if all your keepers get injured). Something also worth keeping in mind is that the Turkish window doesn't close until September 13th, two weeks tomorrow. So if Besiktas did want another keeper, they've got time. They play Alanyaspor tomorrow and then don't have a game until September 14th. So it might be that this lad comes in on loan on deadline day if they don't want their Turkey U21 keeper (forget his name) on the bench behind Gunok.
No and I'll be mightily pissed off if that happens, not least because it means Phillips will play. If he does get injured, he's out for a few weeks and we have him until January at least. We have nothing to lose by playing him, we aren't in this game to do other teams favours.
It’s beyond embarrassing that we have a player training with us but can’t sign because we need to get rid of another player first and his move away hasn’t gone smoothly. Calling Acun an ‘utter ****’ is being nice. He’s significantly worse than Assem and tied with Ehab in ****iness.
May depend on how much we need the money, especially if the Kamara deal is off and sounds likely now.
Essentially we’ve signed a midfielder we can’t afford, Kamara deal has gone titts up, so we sell our goalkeeper?
