Regarding Downs, l do not know how anyone can a judge a player who has come from another country, never mind playing in a different football league on the basis of less than 2 hours of football. Add to that a new manager to managing in this country. It takes time for everyone on and off the pitch to bed-in.

I get the frustration, and, boy, was l feeling that yesterday, but judge a player over a full 10 games, or, 5 maybe games if you want.

Agreed. It's way too judge, and miles too early to be suggesting that we loan him out. Crazy.

But it can also be too early to be relying on them, when other options exist. Why was Quarshie previously ahead of Wood in the pecking order? Why is Downs ahead of Stewart in the pecking order?

I don't care one jot about the league cup this season, so give them a chance on Tuesday to help bed in.

Alan Nixon (I know…) is reporting that Wrexham have offered us £7.5m for Will Smallbone

That would be one of those scenarios where if SR are committed to reinvesting the proceeds in full this window, then I'd be fine with selling. For example, put that money together with money for Edozie, and we could easily afford to sign an excellent Championship player. One excellent player is better than two alright players.

But if SR were only prepared to reinvest, say, £3m of that fee, then I'd be keeping hold of Smallbone.

So it was Sugawara that was told by his national team manager that he needs to be playing in a top league to get selected for the World Cup squad.

Should tell him the championship is the 6th bestest in the world

Makes sense though, he didn’t cost us that much did he? Won’t be making much of a loss on him I’d imagine

£5-6m I think it was. Could probably sell for similar despite being **** for us.

Well, I’m kind of fascinated to see where he goes if he’s trying to go to a top league and play regularly at this stage of the window…

Depends on definition of top league I suppose. Given his relatively cheap price some bottom half Serie A/La Liga sides might fancy him. If not always Turkish/Dutch league

Be a good signing for Wrexham.

Definitely need another midfielder though even if Fernandes stays.

Smallbone would be a good signing for Wrexham. I never understood the hate people had for him. He's a good passer of the ball, but he's limited in his physicality and pace. He popped up with some important goals during our promotion season as well. Would be a good deal for all parties.
