That defending for the second goal is absolutely honking, by the way. **** knows what Slater was doing.

Oh well, it’s only a game! :emoticon-0140-rofl: What a difference a week makes, a rude awakening to the Championship for Jak & management team. Overall, frustrating & disappointing, but to be honest in first half despite them scoring once, they didn’t trouble Pandur, whereas but for their keeper they could have been 3 goals adrift, we forced some good saves out of their goalie. The 2nd half a different story, we were awful, too slow, looked lethargic, couldn’t make any passes stick, in contrast Black’n we’re on our toes, fast to every ball. Poor defending didn’t help, nor the hopeless ref. I’m struggling to name any MOM, Gelhardt was willing, but the balls/play were lacking pace. Am hoping the rumours re Hughes are not true, or it could be a long, hard season.

Credit where due…..the half time game, higher or lower, an improvement on last season, although admittedly the bar was low. But, oh dear the prize! A sign of our financial woes…a water bottle!

UTT, onwards & hopefully, upwards.

Just listened to the post match interview with Serj, he has said Hughes was one affected by the virus and unfit, albeit he was improved today and was expecting him back for Monday training, conformed Kamara has gone to Getafe on loan, wouldn't be pushed on incoming but did say its down to the EFL, did say Coyle and Destan might be available for next week too. Acknowledged he needed more but put the lack of energy of the performance down to the virus thats swept through the camp. I ha e no reason to disbelieve him as he has been pretty open with most things to date.

The score flattered them today, we weren't terrible but the goals changed the game.

We need a couple more players in, a centre back a midfielder and I think we still have a decent chance

Think we need a dose of realism today tbh, the scoreline flattered us ! It could easily have been 4, 5 or 6 ! We just weren't very good.

Yeah we weren't, but if we score one of 3/4 opportunities in the first half it's different.

but when I saw Hughes was missing I was instantly worried which says a lot about the depth of our squad.

if it is more than just an injury and he goes then the season is completely different

Serj saying it was illness, nothing more nothing less, virus swept through the camp and left its mark by the looks.

Think it was Slater's man (Cantwell) when watching on Sky. Could be wrong. Wouldn't mind seeing whether the goalscorer was offside though.
Awful from Slater, but also from Gelhardt - all he had to do was tuck in another yard or so, although he was gesturing to Slater, but why not just step in a yard himself rather than leave it. Awful all round

Giles defensively had a shocker but put some decent balls in the first half.
McCarthy grew into the game but did make some rookie mistakes.
Slater ran around and pointed a lot but not much else.
Palmer had some moments but they were fleeting.
Why did the Manager refer to Gelhardt being played out of position as a winger last season and then plays him in exactly the same role.
**** knows why the Manager thought Stewart was the answer at 3 nil down.
Stewart?

Reality sucks....
Lose two of our better players and the wheels come off the bus big style. Second best from minute one against a resolute and workmanlike Blackburn....Cantwell had us on the end of his boot, plus horrid defending. Who in their right mind heads a clearance across his own box? I hope City kept the receipt for that No11. The only positive from a glum afternoon was the return of Belloumi.

PS..Have we brought in centre halfs who might make a dozen appearances between them?

We did last season's trick of coming out for the second half still half asleep. Clever free kick caught the whole team by surprise, but we lacked any kind of energy and intensity all game. Big let down after last week. SJ puts it down to the virus in the camp so hope he's right and we see a better performance next week.

Some pundits have them struggling. TBH..Virus or no virus, they were so better than us all over the park...Worrying if that's the standard when we face anyone half decent, because Oxford were crap. Only salvation. Still early days and we aren't bottom.

I agree apart from that few minutes where their goalie made 2 or three saves we had no threat at all .
They missed 2 glaring chances and hit the bar .

Coventry weren’t crap though, and we lived with them. Today was just one of those days I think, nothing went our way from the preparation and the injuries to the deflections, our attempts on goal, the lot. We move on.
