Akintola has been very poor

His signing has puzzled me.

Far too early to write him off of course but considering we are working under a wage restriction and out wide we have other options now I’m not sure he was necessary - and his record doesn’t really suggest he’s going to be any better than Kamara.

Feels like a signing to get bigger earners off our books.

Not at all impressed with Jaks decision making today. For several reasons.
Egan with Hughes or Ayaji, no problem Egan with McCarthy no chance. And he didn't change it. Felt sure he'd change things at HT but didn't materially. Surely Williams should have been on early. Lundstram decent but midfield totally overrun.

Who else was he supposed to bring on in the second half at centre-back? Ashbee? Behave.

It will be interesting to see what the gaffer says, looked to me as if there were a number suffering from this bug. Nevertheless, credit to Blackburn who looked good, Cantwell ran the show.

Probably not the result we wanted, but perhaps the result we needed.

New centre halves essential. And stop Kamara leaving.

In that case, why single him out? There were plenty more deserving.

Because he'd just been subbed off..?

I'd also already mentioned Pandur who was poor.

Typically if a player goes off having not done well people comment on it. I noticed people had similar comments of Palmer although I wasn't online at the time to also join in. Hope that's ok!

And BUMP.

Whoever thinks McCarthy is any good is kidding themselves.

Thin squad.

Some will carry on believing.

McCarthy is yet to physically develop, he just looked not strong enough to cope with men's football. I might have been inclined to play Williams there, much more experienced and physically developed.

Fair. I still thought he was one of our better players though. AND you did suggest earlier in the thread that you were yet to be impressed with him and were surprised that people would put him ahead of Akintola, but, hey ho.

Bad as it has been, we've still created something pretty much every time we've got into the last 3rd, so I'm hopeful for the second half. Belloumi on before too long, Gelhardt to 10, Palmer dropping back, sorted.
Sorry, I misspelt pessimistic.

Care to quote me saying I've yet to be impressed? Believe I said that I was yet to be convinced he was better than Kamara, and that thinking he had as much potential as Philogene was a bit much, but perhaps I've misremembered what I said. :)

It'll be interesting to hear what Serj thought of that, cant blame him for picking McCarthy, he's looked OK in his cameos so far but today the gane was too big for him, only criticism would be not changing that cb pairing sooner, get Lundstram in there but then you lose the only outlet we had, hobsons choice really.

Well it is good that we won last week in last minute, otherwise it would be a disastrous start again.
