Apart from Vince, we haven't got any top class batters. Evans and Roy are past their best, Du Plooy is good and a lefty which helps but Coles isn't reliable as he's raw. Need a proper keeper-batter not Evans.
Well that's the end of this Hundred for the Brave. Awful campaign. Big changes needed. Ditch Evans, Roy, Bracewell and Mills. Having a part time keeper behind the stumps in this format is ridiculous.
Excellent Hampshire win. Excellent Brave Women win. Very poor Brave Men performance. I did say at the time of the draft that I disagreed with recruiting Bracwell as a band one signing. Total waste of money. Arguably the best two players tonight were Rashid and Cox, both of whom are band two. So if that's what Oval are getting from band two, we should be getting a hell of a lot more from band one. That is not Bracewell.
We've got our "easiest" three fixtures still to play. If we win them all, there's a decent chance that we finish 3rd. But I totally agree about the keeping. Even if Finn Allen was fit, he's still only a part-time keeper. But that's a heck of a lot more than Evans - I'm still not sure if he's ever kept before this summer?
Weatherley ruled out for the rest of the season. No word yet on Dawson (as far as I know). McMullen isn't an overseas player, so in theory I think he would be permitted in play in our QF if we wanted to extend his contract to cover t20 too. But he hasn't yet shown enough with the bat in the 50 over competition to suggest that he could be a viable option.
Carbon copy of last night so far. We managed to dig in and avoid a NRR thrashing. Originals will need to do likewise because otherwise their top three hopes will surely be over. No-one is qualifying with a 4-4 win-loss record and an awful NRR.
If Superchargers and Fire both win tomorrow, the top three will be wrapped up. Whereas if we and Spirit both win, third place will still be up for grabs between multiple sides (and with us being the side sitting there).
