Do you think your current form has anything to do with lampard being dropped to the bench?

as a neutral i do, no doubt he is a class player but it does help having players with a higher work rate and of a slightly better standard. or would you put it more to the introduction of romeu into the team or just an all round team performance.

No. Frank cannot, churn out consistency over the heavy programme we have, with PL, CL and Cups anymore, as he's no longer a spring chicken. He was used effectively last night and needs to be really convincing to get his place back from Miereles , who is becoming undroppable by the game!

i dont understand why he isnt in the team, even if he's not quite the player he was 2-3 years ago he's still one of the best goalscoring midfielders in the league and should still be one of the first names on the team sheet.

the only reason i can think of is that AVB (who, in my opinion, is overhyped) is trying to bring down the age of the squad, but though people like mereiles are signed, you think, whats the point of that? decent player, 28 years old i believe, and liverpool were only too happy to offload him, what does that tell you?

Fact is our midfield has looked a lot better with Romeu and Meireles than with Mikel and Lampard. We can debate the whys but basically we have to play our best side and not just the star names or even the best individuals.

In the last 5 we've only not won once (liverpool) and in that game Lampard and Torres played instead or Drogba and Meireles. Perhaps something in that.

Liverpool weren't happy to offload him, he handed in a transfer request. He was one of their best players last year and is turning in some very good performances for us this year. Very under rated player IMO.

    No.

Frank is a legend and I love the guy but the squad needs to be united at the moment and behind the manager. Frank's had some good games this year but is far from undropable especially with how well some of the other mids have been playing as of late.

A guy of his age in a team of our stature can't expect to play every game surely??

    second this..

no way Lamps should have gone out in publicly making that - yes - stupid statement that he wants to play every game..

Ramires, Juan , Raul & Oriol are doing exceedingly well...

    Oriol = Essien role
    Ramires & Juan = automatic
Raul = Younger (means better here) Goal scoring midfielder (like Lamps) - did you see that finish last night?

Lamps need to play backup or packup..

    thanks for all your services..

I think if Frank genuinely doesn't know why he isn't starting then he isn't as smart as his much vaunted IQ. Simply he is too close to the problem. He isn't the best at Chelsea everyday any more. It takes an outsider to judge. Ask a player about how they feel and what their form is, and if their ambition and drive is still there, they will kid themselves it is better than it is. Saying that means I feel that Frank's ambition is still high, which is a good thing, for when he does play he will give all he can. It is a difficult thing to tell someone they aren't as good as they think without losing their drive. This is may have confused Frank. I guess in training he is still getting all the positive feedback, being told how good and important he is, how he is needed, all true, yet ultimately not no 1 starter and no one has said this bald truth to his face. Instead a coach will say we play rotation, it lets them off the hook for a while until a player realises someone else has more starts than him.

Rotation is a large part of modern football and no one in that central 3 is certain of a start every week especially with the looming return of Essien as well.

Lampard is still the best central midfield player we have on top form but something hasn't been working in that midfield for a while, hence why we bid silly money for Modric. At the moment the 3 who played last night are the 3 who seem to be working best together at the moment.
