I do however think there's a chance we won't see any incomings now until later in the window. They might see how the new guys get on in the first 3 games before assessing how best to use our remaining budget. I still remain a little bit nervous about AFCON and squad depth. Speakman said we'd be buying enough depth to ensure its not a problem and we haven't yet
Agreed. If we have the funds I’d love the bigger money deal to be on a top quality winger. I like our current midfield 3 but without ELF we’ll need the front three to produce and I think with talbi/Mayenda it’s a lot to ask at their age. You’d think we’ll get another winger though with the lauriente deal being so close, club must have it on their list you’d think.
Whats the latest with Bakwa sure I read somewhere that Forest had bid for him? I can see us spending big on a winger and a CB still.
Yeah Id say the winger depth has so be sorted. When AFCON rolls around we will have a barely fit Mundle and Roberts against some big sides
it’s not just AFCON for me. At the moment we’re gambling a bit on Talbi hitting the ground running. He may well do which would be awesome. He’s clearly got a tonne of potential. But he’s so young. I just feel we need more options on the wings for when they’re not firing.
Yeah a left footed, predominantly right sided winger would be my preference. Allows Talbi to be used on both sides. Bakwa would be my choice if it's doable but I also wouldn't be against taking a swing at a 18-21 y/o at a lowish fee with a high upside.
Talbi the least likely of the SAFCON squad to be called up. Still probably will tho. He was called up to their most recent squad but missed with an injury. Uncapped but they’ve made a big push to get him to commit to Morocco instead of Belgium. I guess we want a new winger to play predominantly left until Mundle is back from injury, but then predominantly right after he’s fit to potentially push Roberts out of the squad by January. Or you actually want two more wingers now and sell Roberts this window too. I wouldn’t mind seeing Isidor given a shot as sub/“finisher” left winger as he’s dangerous on the break and we’ve never really seen him good/bad he is defensively as a winger but he’s a grafter. Surely a right back would hate to see him coming on at 60-70 mins, but more so if we are winning.
Probably nowt. Flight from Hannover came on last minute into Ponteland right now. Wolfsburg have just got another RW (now have 4) maybe offload one to us?
Winger and a CB then I think we are done unless anyone leaves or someone comes available that we didn't think would
