BTW On the Isak house thing,it was a 12 month lease and it was up,he didn't want to renew the lease in a house that he was burgled in.
Apologies, I was talking specifically about the Ekitike part. If Newcastle had agreed to what they said we'd have Ekitike and 40 million right now and they'd have Isak.
Unfortunately like myself the club probably wasn't expecting them to buy Isak anyway if we said no.
Ekitike is actually going to be the best striker in the world within a year or 2.. He's absolutely brilliant.
I love the use of the word "actually" to describe a hypothetical future event.
The Americans have essentially bought the Premier League. Let's not forget that Liverpools owners were last to drop out the super league plan and the appeared pretending he was all sad the next day saying sorry.... What a worm... He was desperate to join.
I'd ask what's changed since? the PL no doubt got down on it's knees, suckled on his balls and got hardball on PSR, which was previously just a weak threat and a fine at best.
Given city and Chelsea pulled out first I always found that quite telling.
I said something similar 3 years ago and the player is already at the top.
I honestly struggle to understand how people are failing to understand this.
The problems are all of Isak’s making. If he didn’t want to play for Newcastle for 5 years then why did he sign a contract saying he would. I don’t care as to whether it happens ‘all the time’ or ‘clubs do the same’ etc. He signed a contract and should expect to comply with his obligations in it just as much as he expects Newcastle to do so eg paying him his salary. It’s really that simple.
We obviously don’t know what really is happening as there’s so much misinformation out there and so everyone’s view is swayed by what they are or aren’t inclined to believe.
For me, he wants to go. His actions say that not going on Tour and going to Spain. The Club’s actions say that in Isak not training with rest and not playing in friendlies. Liverpool want him shown by their bid. We don’t want to sell him shown by turning down the insulting Liverpool bid.
If we don’t get an adequate replacement then we don’t sell regardless. If we do get an adequate replacement (which to me looks highly unlikely) then only sell at a price that we require (not reduced due to Isak’s stance) and not to Liverpool. If we don’t sell him then tell him to get his act together and act like the professional footballer he is supposed to be. Then he trains to get fit and plays. If he refuses to train and/or play then fine him every single time 2 weeks wages. He’ll soon find out it’s not worth his while to mess around.
If he cooperates then I would negotiate an increase in his salary with a release clause at a price acceptable to us for next summer.
Money is important but so is image and we can’t be seen to be able to be manipulated by players and/or other clubs. We might lose out a bit financially but Isak will lose out big time if he tries to be stupid.
That is why we are digging our heals in. We don't want to be seen to be soft. If we relent and let him go to Liverpool the player has won and it sets a very dangerous precedent.
He obviously wants to leave. But it's on our terms not his.
Agree with both positions... This way we can't lose.

As someone has already said you cannot criticise the Club for trying but failing to get that next level player. It’s not as though we’ve gone for Messi or M’Bappe etc. We were in with a shout for the players we did bid for. And to say you don’t go for a certain player because a bigger club might go for them is completely ridiculous, defeatist and loser mentality.
And Isak is Isak due in no small part down to us. Yes his input was necessary but so was EH and the coaching staff’s and his teammates and without EH and Co he wouldn’t be what he is today.
So can we lose the loser, second rate mentality and actually try and aim for the stars both metaphorically and literally speaking.
Arsenal were after Bruno as well. We went for it and got him.
We wouldn't be where we are now without his contribution.
As for Isak - He won't be the same player elsewhere.
