A RB? I feel like you’re going to be worrying sll seasons as absolutely no chance we are signing one given we have Bradley Frimpong and Gomez
Frimpong is also cover for Mo and my reason for worrying should be fairly clear since the other 2 , as so often , are injured .
We lost 3 forwards (two of whom were proper Strikers) and bought 2 (only 1 is a striker) While Rio has appeared as a possible 1st team player he is 16. 3 for 2, that maths don't work on that. With Nunez gone we do need another forward, as well as a CB.
Well given also had Jones and Szobo playing there, I’m not sure having 3 right backs is essential. Especislly as we have 3 left backs and everyone is saying how we need to get rid of 1 of them as 3 is too many. Frimpong being cover for Salah is just that, cover. He’ll play more at RB than RW, I have a feeling he will only start there while Salah is at Afcon and even that might not be very time if we still have Elliott or szobo who can play there
Why do we need a TB(I assume you mean RB). We have Bradley and Frimpong. Gomez & Endo are the extra then you get into the reserves and youth, which is plently If you think Frimpong is going to do anything other than RB with rare occasions of playing RW, you're mad. He was bought to play as a RB.
That's not for months and only lasts one month of the season. I don't think we need 3 RBs just for one month of the season when we don't know what the situation will be. Slot says that now but by Jan everything could change. also buying Isak (or another forward) would mean we don't have to play Frimpong as a RW.
It's not really 3 for 2. . Jota Diaz Nunez All genuine options at lw and cf. Ekitike in. We now have a front 3 and the sole cover is chiesa. That clearly doesn't work. Let's leave Wirtz as 10. We need that winger.
Yeah will be fondly remembered for all those reasons. He’s actually been a little unfortunate with the manager change, for me he is a LW and can cause mayhem with his pace, has a good shot on him from wider positions cutting in too. Slot just never had him there at all, was a 9 with Jota and that’s that
Am also concerned that we’ve done this without someone coming in, I don’t know if we’re absolutely assured at head office that Isak is ours or something, but even so it’s very risky. People will be rightly pissed off if we leave ourselves short up top
Pretty certain we can do both (and buy a decent no6) if we want to. A few weeks ago, after buying Ekitike, we were told we still had another £250m to spend and remain PSR compliant. That was before we sold Darwin, Morton, and Diaz. We still have Elliott to sell, and when we do, we're practically net zero. I think the fact that we've let Nunez go confirms that we expect to get Isak by the end of this window. I don't think that impacts getting another CB, I just think - and Slot's press comments back this up - that the club doesn't think we need a fourth CB with Endo and Robbo (and even Tsimi) 'able' to cover there. It's 2020 all over again...
The stories coming out of the club* are that Hughes and Howe are already great friends, and that there's an agreement - even before the Sesko debacle - that isak can go at the end of the window, and only after we've played them in the league. Doesn't make sense for Isak to throw his teddies out of the cot for this to be true though, imo, and it's all above Howe's head now anyway with the Saudis apparently getting very personally involved like John henry supposedly did some years back over the Coutinho affair. We shouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until January for Isak, and that Slot's been told he has enough attacking options for the CL and Prem until then (stuff the domestic cups). * My sister's ex-boss's son-in-law works at the Kirkby Axa centre. You can't get more tenuous than that.
I wouldn't be shocked if the after the home game ****e is where the thing is. It would be shocking if pif made us wait till january. In thr end we have 21/22 days to complete the squad puzzle. Right now we have an 11 to start the season with. After that we are talking strength in depth. If January is a thing then its a thing that can be done. There's a huge difference though in players covering multiple positions and 2 quality options for every position. Gomez is a broken man. You can just draw a line through his name right now. Thst means endo covers cb and will play. This now means endo is oit of the 6 talk. ( he was anyway) so now its gravenbercha and macallister there. No kid options. Now its macallister and szoboszlai for 8. With jones nyoni only. Then you roll on to wirst and its szoboszlai as cover. As you do this you only need to pull one thread like konate who averaged aboit 23 games before last season and now you've a midfield who get no rest at all as you've really just the one real cover player and then Jones who is so far off the level at times. The forwards are then worse as every option is chiesa or a kid. So we.need to complete the puzzle and as I said cb, cm and forward not just cb and St.
I really liked this lad for his enthusiasm and willingness to cause chaos in opposition defences. There is a very good striker in there somewhere but he was too unreliable with the chances that came his way. Good luck to him
I'm sad to see Nunez go, I always hoped that one day it would all click into place for him. There's a player in there alright, but I suppose he just wasn't clinical enough for us. Shame to see him go to the Saudi league - money talks of course, but he deserves a better league than that imo.
Was it a case of being told told, ‘you’re going. We don’t care where you go so long as the money is right for us and you won’t be playing this season’?
It was a case of nobody wanted to match our rather small fee requirmeent so he's got 400k tax free as compensation for ending his career.
Howe now saying that Newcastle are controlled by PSR and that is why they have failed to sign anyone. I beg to differ. They could have accepted a huge bid and big profit on Isak early in the window knowing that he wanted to leave and had plenty of cash to replace him plus a couple of others. I like Howe and Newcastle for that matter but they are being run by clowns.
