Just listening to the Lions against Australia. They've just gone off for 'lightening break'.
Big storm in the area. Off for half an hour. If there's another strike within an 8 mile radius during that time, they restart the clock.
Apparently there was a similar incident in the states last week when England played USA.

A week Saturday is the Pina Colada festival in Northwich. The town centre is just over a mile from us.
Why does a sleepy town in Cheshire have a festival dedicated to a rum based cocktail?
Because Northwich is the town in which Rupert Holmes, author of the song Escape, was born.
Escape is also known as 'The Pina Colada song'.

Only heard of Northwich because of its football club Northwich Victoria.
I must have lived relatively close to there when I lived in Chester for a year.

Their old ground, at the time the oldest ground at which football had continously been played, is now a housing development. After their collapse, they now play on a council pitch. A shadow of their former cup giant killing selves.
Chester is about 15-20 minutes from Northwich.

You know something else about them now.

I have to say it was one of the best years in my life when I lived there in the mid 80s. City were in the fourth division then so I only got to see them in a few away games so every Saturday I drove over to Liverpool or Manchester parked up, walked into their big stadiums which were half empty for a couple of quid.

I went there in 2001 when we played them in the FA Cup, a 5-2 victory to Hull. From memory one stand was fairly decent for non-league. :emoticon-0138-think

That was the year before they moved out.

I moved here in late 1998.
I was working in Warrington at the time, so besides the Drill Field, I regularly drove down Wilderspool Causway, past Warrington's RL ground.
I intended to visit both. Never made it to either.

Up to the late 1980's I followed football and rugby home and away, but ditched the rugby for just Hull City, mainly due to finances. I last went to a rugby league match in the early 90's but found it boring compared to football. I got to visit Wilderspool a couple of times, and have had warmer welcomes! :emoticon-0138-think

When I lived in Loggerheads one of my neighbours was a guy who had scored the winner at Wembley for Northwich Victoria in some cup. Some of the worst years of my life......working in Stoke.......crap job and only light moment was the birth of my daughter.

OK - back off hols (2000 more miles on the clock but I didn't get to Northwich <laugh>) and had the car serviced, brake fuid changed and MOT'd - nothing to report, no advisories and all's good. £350, but that's fair enough and I can live with that.

Still needs to go back to the dealer for an FOC airbag change recall, but now the ugly bit - the sat nav issue. <doh> They want £150 just to look at it at the same time as the recall termed on their pricing menu as "investigative charge" FFS! <grr>.

Dependant upon what they find I've been told it could be just a software update issue and/or map update for about 100 quid on top, but it could also be defective antenna or even a faulty idrive 6 display head which have "known issues" either for well over a grand - probably nearer a couple. <yikes>

Told them I want a car for the duration and they've offered one for the back end of August. I'm considering selling some shares in the meantime.....<laugh>

On the weekend, I visited Prediction League Admin on Edersee. He is there doing a fortnight rescue service with the DLRG- German RNLI!
Water level exceedingly low. as one can see. This is one of the Dambuster dams.....and was the awkward one (for those who read the book or watched the film) where the Lancaster bombers had to do a 90 degree turn at the last moment and then level off and drop the bouncing bombs. Adding pictures is difficult on here but a wider angle shot would show more of these sluices at regular intervals, except at this spot where two or three are missing......this is where the dam was breached and they were not replaced. If you look carefully, you can see where the repair was done.
In other news, PLA had the job of rescuing a yacht that had run aground on a submerged bridge.....had to be bailed, pumped and towed to a repair jetty!!!

Sat Nav update - as if you cared. <laugh> Solved, and it didn't cost me a penny!...............<diva>

Obtained a hidden idrive service menu code from a BMW technician (who shall be nameless <whistle>) to access the software. Turns out there are 255 available navigation satellites hovering up there serving the geo-positioning of the vehicle's antenna.

Apparently you need a minimum of 4 or 5 of those satellites visible to the vehicle at any one time to ensure they triangulate it's position. I was showing I had only 2 to 3 alternating as "visible satellites" and consequently only had a 2D position fix rather than the necessary 3D.

It positioned the car somewhere near Leominster on the map! <doh> Whenever I entered a destination, the nav planned a perfect route to it but obviously thought I was starting from that position. It was totally useless and the lady guide and heads up display were all over the place.

Reset the software (didn't need an update) and bingo! I've now got 12/14 visible satellites listed and showing on the screen. It's snapped back into a 3D fix with the longditude/latitude/elevation now telling me I'm in Porthcawl again.

Will see how it goes but it looks like I've saved myself at least the £150 "investigative charge" and probably a lot more because God knows what I would have been told at the dealer.

I navigate by the sun, moon and stars.

    I'm buggered when it's cloudy.

Today I have mostly been farming. And will be doing more this evening.
Daughter and partner gone away in their caravan so I'm on farm duties.
Done about 5 hours so far. Another hour or so later.
    Ready for a siesta first.
