Still think we are very light in central midfield. If one of Crooks, Lundstram or Slater get injured, we've got no fit, senior, cover, do we? Everyone else is more of an attacking mid, even Laalaoui. need at least 2 more CMs in I reckon.

I’m obviously wrong or misinformed Chazz as it’s all there on cctv.
I apologise Lewie as it appears you didn’t do anything wrong

    Decent summary from Baz. Except:

    1. McBurnie isn't a 'signficant financial outlay'. At least not in the sense that we've paid stupid money. We've got ourselves a proven, decent quality Championship striker (finally) on a free transfer. So, even if we are paying say £40k a week over 3 years (I've no idea if we're even paying that much, but just let's say we are for a moment), then that's around £6mill over 3 years. You rarely get such strikers for free and on low wages. The alternative would be paying say £5mill or more, PLUS decent wages on top - say £25k a week which would be £4mill more, making it £10+mill total. It's remarkable business for us even it is as high as £40k a week (which I doubt it is).

    2. No mention of Destan. He might be part of our surprise package once he's settled in. Sloppy missing him out. We'll likely have CF options now of McBurnie, Joseph and Destan, with TSF likely going out on loan once again and hopefully proving himself this time.

Relatively speaking he isn't at all. That's the point. Do you expect us to magic a quality proven championship CF for free?

No, you need to pay a significant sum to get a good championship striker.

Yes, it’s a big amount spent on McBurnie.

Yes, it’s the kind of money you need to spend to get a proven striker.

    Everyone is right about everything.

Yes, it's a significant outlay in and of itself (as I posted above, we are both technically right)... but did you not bother to read the rest of the post that gave the context to the comment? It's not that big an outlay overall for a quality, proven championship striker. It's a very smart bit of business. Baz, like some others, seem fixated on us having spent fairly big on his wages, choosing to overlook the FACT that he came on a free, making it a very good deal overall. That's the point being made. It really isn't difficult is it?

My understanding is that the agreement with Villa was that we shouldnt bother paying them for Barry's loan when they owed us more than that for Philogene, so instead they just deducted it from what they owed us.

The club has said they have documentation for this, which is why they're so confident of the restriction being reduced (at least).

In the unlikely event that they're lifted entirely, I imagine the EFL will probably still use this to try and keep scrutinising our finances, and make sure Acun doesn't keep digging a money pit. I'm fine with that, if that's the case.

I think if we're allowed to register Puerta and Laalaoui and we loan a DM from the Prem as mooted, that would cover us and probably allow for Palmer to go out too.
