(I'm Not using these quotes to single anyone out personally.)

”if we dont sign a CB by the West ham game, we'll be shooting ourselves in the foot "

"If we don't sign a CB, it will be extremely disappointing from the club”

I'm 100% sure the club want a CB in. I'm also sure they have no intention of shooting anybody's foot. I'm sure they've been working tirelessly to make it happen.
If it doesn't happen before the West ham game, will I be disappointed? Yes. Will I be saying the club has been disappointing? Absolutely not.

The club has completely outperformed my expectations this window. The CB market is obviously very competitive this window, fees being quoted seem high, players need convincing to come to a club that have just been promoted....

That's not me getting excuses in for the club, it's facts.

I'm certain we'll see at least one CB arrive before the window shuts, and I'm sure they're actually trying to do it before our first game. But if it fails to happen, I'll still see the window as an overall success

Colwill has had surgery on an injury and Chelsea are after a CB now who’s left hand sided.

I immediately thought Lucumi, I hope they’re not thinking the same! Doubt we can compete with Chelsea for a signing.

If we don't sign a CB in time for West Ham, I hope Xhaka does a Cana and switches to CB so we can line up Reinildo - Xhaka - Ballard - Hume, and then we can have Sadiki - Diarra and Le Fee in midfield - I actually hope this is how they line up this weekend for practice, though I would understand using Huggins or Jones at LB to keep this tactic as a surprise to West Ham.
It won't be a surprise to them now, will it....you've just given it away! <laugh> :emoticon-0105-wink:

They just signed Hato and they still have Veiga at the club. I would be shocked if they were looking at Lucemi. If he was good enough for Chelsea then it's unlikely we'd ever have had a chance.

If Seelt and Huggins weren’t valued they would be out the door. You just need to take heed, accept and just calm yourself down.

Pretty sure we’ll get more defenders in and I’m pretty sure we’ll be keeping Seelt and Huggins
I was joking and very calm. I like Seelt. He will be going on loan though. I’ll be very surprised if we don’t bring in another fight back.

I’m reasonably confident our LCB will be signed before West Ham. I suspect the other CB will be a premier league loan. It’s an area where having at least some premier league experience would be very useful. If not that I expect a Xhaka type experienced player.

Sorry mate it’s hard to interpret comments sometimes. I do think Seelt will have another level once he gets a good run in but if he goes out on loan for this and we get a Lucumi/Bade that would be A-ok with me as well.

In my view I think the noise around centre halves for the first game next Saturday wouldn’t be as loud if cirkin was fit.

I’d be comfortable with a back four of Hume, Ballard, Reinildo, cirkin while still preferring it if we had added a couple of quality centre halves.

playing jones or Huggins at left back is in my view the real issue as one is only filling in at that position and in my opinion that has shown pre season (nowt against the lad at all as clearly talented to make it to the level he has but he’s never been a left back in my view) and the other is back after a long term absence and again left back isn’t his natural position.

Club are doing well and clearly working hard, for what it’s worth I think we’ll have one centre half in who will play next week and if we can’t get our main targets then we will go for an experienced PL loan at centre back.

I get the concerns but again

signings will go the end of the window and this is for teams across the board

it’s a reflection on uefa and the premier league, not Sunderland, that players will be signed in the period between the West Ham kick off and the window closing.

It’s a shame, it is what it is and was always going happen.

They would need to come in soon as we would need a work permit which could take a few days also Premier League loan would be another youngster with hardly any experience. But that is better than nobody I suppose. I know the club are trying hard but we need to lower our standards a bit as a lot of clubs seem to need cb this season
