I was going to say Barry Bridges but Trammers beat me to it.

I was surprised to see that he got 4 England caps as I don't recall him as being particularly good. The caps must have come when he was at Chelsea - 80 goals in 176 games for them. As I said to Trammers though, looking good for 84.

I think I remember him playing for Millwall.

I looked him up. Yes it was while he was at Chelsea. He played for England in 1965.

Reports that Brizzle are looking to offload Armstrong now.
Another move from us that hasn’t done the player any favours. He thought he knew better!

Credit where due that was very good business by us.

Not sure how much Armstrong's ego forced the move, I'm sure however his agent was very pleased.

No doubt he’s been poorly advised but also think we didn’t give him the best chance of developing. Clearly would have benefitted a lot from a loan and playing regularly for a year or two at a lower level where he’ll probably find himself now and I’ve no doubt there’ll be a manager out there who fancies they’ll get the best out of him as managers have egos too. We couldn’t offer that as our recruitment of strikers was so abysmal.

Maybe he’d have done a year in League One, been **** there and that would’ve been it.

Also still think he’s a wide player especially in teams playing 4-3-3. Interested to see where he ends up and more likely than not he’ll be well down the leagues or in Ireland in a few years. Feels like for him it’s a case of what could have been. Still 22, mind, so not too late but not far off. He could turn to boxing.

Can we start the Charlton thread early this week? There's a lot to talk about!

I'll put this here for now:

I’d rather pretend it’s not happening if that’s ok. The club have thrown us idiots some sweeties to forget the dross so far but it’ll be toxic after our obligatory promising first ten minutes (zero shots on target) followed by going 1-0 down having failed to clear a routine cross.
