I'm not too worried. The voices in my head keep me entertained when all else is quiet. It is a wee bit reminiscent of a ghost town down here isn't it? But as Remote says, we'll no doubt get visitors from above and maybe we can get a bit of banterous rivalry going with the handful of clubs that are active at our level?? Will have to try extra hard with the match day thread humour.
Well I expect to be back to full fitness in time for the start of the season and I'm sure all the brilliant Bluebirds on here will be overflowing with new season hope and positivity. Let's treat all the clubs with humble respect before we tear them apart with free flowing, attacking and skillful football. It's time. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
Shades of the early 80's (84?) Admiral kit. I have an original on the ceiling of my bar (used to belong to my late brother, John). Coincides with when I first started going down the City. My only gripe with the new kit would be the badge. It'd have been nice if they'd kept the badge from last season... Would suit the retro look nicely.
Speaking from recent experience......wait till you start winning, it'll be one of the best season's ever.
Sadly I don't think too many of us on here are fully convinced that we'll make any great strides - at least not early on anyhow. We have a bit more upheaval to come before we'll settle into things. If we can trouble the play-offs then I think we'll have done ok, anything more will be a bonus at the moment.
With a new management team and a huge turnover of players (OK, loads going out and youngsters coming through) it's likely to be an inconsistent start. The old adage of performance over results will be important to start. Mid table after 10 games is where I expect us to be. Then it's about how we settle in the run up to Christmas.
Exactly where my head is at. Really not expecting us to pull up any trees early on. We have experienced players (ok, only a handful in that bracket) who will need to adapt to life in league 1, as well as youngsters who will be having to find their feet quickly too. Inconsistency as you say is precisely what we should expect to begin with. If (and it remains a big if) we bring a few more experienced heads in and the manager can settle on a core starting 11 / squad of 15 early on AND they gel quickly then we may be able to achieve something, but that's a lot of ifs, buts and maybes all lining up nicely....
All wins and losses today - no draws. 3 points or zilch, and we're only not top 6 because of the alphabet.
Top crowd of the weekend at a smidge under 20K and it felt like it too - great atmosphere. More of the same please! Bradford City weren't far behind - I didn't realise they got so many at home up there, but the others were nowhere near us.
After one game there's a happier vibe on here and I'm pleased not least for my pal Clingo. As for Bradford don't they greatly reduce admission prices ?
Hopefully it becomes a positive feedback loop. The more the crowd gets behind the team the better they perform. The better they perform, the more the crowd gets behind the team. It could make a difference with close games at home. As long as there's patience when things aren't going our way. And there will be times when they don't.
