I really like the look of him, although has got caught out of position a couple of times. I have posted numerous times I love Dunne but he is not a RB

Not a disastrous result against one of the best teams in Hounslow.

    Watched the stream.

We had good practice with our defending and bringing the ball out from the back. Wish we could have had more practice with shots on goal.

Yeah kept the ball pretty well and a good run out as they say...little else to predict how it might go although it seems we're not going to start with an actual striker

What will we be like against a hassling pushing committed midfield?

    Walsh is now our no1

Like Poku...but he will get a lot of cards..he has a temper.
Morgan played as CF..but had a bad match...but.
    Madsen was ineffective.

Hope Cook is not injured because he was solid.. So was Morrison.

    The finishers were good.
Adamson was a mixture of brilliant and a liability.
Varane was excellent for 30 minutes.
    Chair was a powerhouse.
    Sutton so fast

Bennie took over as Cf and did lot better than Morgan.

So my plan for the season...park the bus for first 15 min.
Then bring on Sutton and Poku

I was at the match. The way Brentford started, even disregarding their 2nd minute goal, I thought we were going to get hammered. Gradually, however, we fought our way back into the game, without ever threatening Brentford's dominance. For example, I think our first shot on target didn't arrive until around the 75th minute!

Nevertheless, there were some good displays in the team. I disagree with awjm (above) on at least couple of counts. Firstly, poor Morgan seemed to be asked to play as something like a deep-lying centre forward, which hardly plays to his strengths, but he worked hard and tried to get involved. I like to have him in or around the first team.... albeit probably not as a centre forward! Secondly, my overriding impression of Poku was someone who wanted the ball and looked tricky with it. Sure, he wasn't given much time or space by one of the best left backs in the Premier League but he continues to look very promising indeed. Awjm also criticises people for picking on Madsen. I'm very reluctant to vilify any QPR player but this is a forum where we are allowed to praise and to criticise players. I can give you an opinion on the performance of any QPR player today. To my eyes, they all showed up at one time or another, except maybe one: Madsen. He was pretty much invisible to me, although if I had to pick out the 3 worst passes that I remember from today's game, they all get marked down to one player. You guessed it. Sorry but, based on what I've seen in the friendlies (and most of last season), he doesn't deserve a place in the team, he's nowhere near the right level. Sometimes these harsh criticisms are justified. If I were a betting man, I would say that Madsen is only selected on the instruction of the CEO, who probably initiated and championed the transfer and the embarrassingly large fee involved. Opinions, eh?

I didn't have a great angle to see their goal (from B/C block, SAR) but I was a bit surprised when it went in. It looked almost like a cross from where I sat. If Walsh was a little bit at fault with that, he redeemed himself later with 3 or 4 outstanding saves. Apart from one slip up, his distribution was generally excellent. Dembele looked a handful, especially in the first half, and I thought Morrison had a really good game, again more so in the first half. For those of us worrying about Larkeche's ability to fill the left back slot, I found his performance today very reassuring. Time will tell. There were nice cameos, too, from substitutes Varane, Sutton and Adamson.

I was very conscious of having a good friend who supports Brentford and, today, if you'd offered my a one-nil loss after 20 minutes, I'd have snatched your hand off! As it turned out, I think we can hold our heads up high.

Just another Madsen hater, eh Rodders? So many people on here seem unable to appreciate his obvious qualities. Only I have the footballing nous to grasp what Nicolas brings, it seems.

Seriously, though, someone said earlier that he was playing in the 'Field position' i.e. CDM. If he was, that's just poor selection. He has zero defensive qualities and, if played at all, it should be as a number 10. Still, he won't get to play there because Stephan has indicated that Chair will play centrally. So, nothing to worry about, people.

Didn't see any of yesterday's game but my lad watched it and this pre season seems to be very bizarre in preparation for a league start next week. No strikers yet to get much (if any) game time. Our set up resembles counter attacking football, soak it up, chase around, try win it and catch them on the break. A midfield of Field & Morgan will get ripped up in this league. Varane over Morgan all day every day. The kid is decent and maybe has potential but he just seems to missing a few things from his game. Madsen, as I've said a million times before, just doesn't look like he can influence a game in any way. It's like playing with 10 men out of possession and then in possession if he plays a simple pass then it's a big improvement. The preparation worries me, the set up worries me and who we haven't got playing worries me. Probably go beat Preston now saying all that!

For the very little it’s worth, Preston lost a behind closed doors game at City’s training ground 1-0 and their results haven’t been good. Betting suggests we’re both relegation candidates so it’ll be a fun test we can all enjoy and learn from.

We had some ropey pre-season results before the Warnock season. It’s completely irrelevant.

It's not so much the results that bother me but rather the preparation. I think we have started Celar in one friendly and then that's it for using strikers. The new kid spends the full game on the bench when we don't even have a starting striker?!?! Bizarre

Preston won’t know what’s hit them when the plan is revealed.

    In total agreement.

it does look like we are preparing to be a counter attacking team which, if it works, I have no issue with.
My concern is that counter-attacking requires pace, not only in players movement but also passing the ball forwards. Neither of which we've had in at least 10 years.

It also requires high levels of fitness as you spend a lot of the 90 minutes without the ball.
