All clubs have 'moments' when their player kicks a cat, crashes a car or clarts around with girls ... ... but Newcastle consistently embarrass themselves on and off the pitch Even in a year when they've actually won a cup, in 70 years, they're still showing themselves up and being the butt of everyone's jokes. Their self-image of how they want to be seen is totally at odds with how people see them ... absolute madness. I remember an interview where she talked about the tough times before she got famous, slaving away at Radio Newcastle while living rent free at her boyfriends farmhouse I don't think she's self aware enough to do a pisstake
Sweet deal for the boyfriend, after talking all day she'd be too tired to start yacking on about the mags
When the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and various MPs, pushed the Premier League into allowing Saudi Arabia to buy Newcastle it was supposed to bring investment in the Tyneside region. Unless I've missed something there's no sign of much happening, the proposed new stadium is 'years away' and the money swirling around the club isn't being spent on the city. The Saudis seem to be using the club as a front to increase acceptance of their policy of developing football in their own country, not this one. Vast amounts are being spent on stadiums, players and infrastructure that was expected to be spent here. The club itself seems to be a side issue and being very badly run, the supporters are starting to wonder what's going on. The club don't seem particularly interested in communicating with them and the manager is being made to look extremely foolish. With only a fortnight before the season starts the squad looks totally unbalanced and the finances being run in a 'Saudi' kind of way where they expect to bend whichever rules don't suit them. Without being racist I just don't think their way of operating suits this country, I doubt it'll be long before the natives turn on their masters.
How on earth did we allow football to become so absolutely corrupt. "PIF owns 75% stakes in four of the leading Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al-Hilal, while it also owns a 80% stake in Newcastle United." That means the Saudis actually own 5 football clubs, the percentages are meaningless ... ... is there anything to stop them buying more?
Neither did she, until she realised it might get her a bit of attention. It was the Keegan days, there were bandwagons to be jumped on, when you could get Tony Blair off it that was.
Does anyone remember how the Mags begged to be taken over because of concerns over the mental health of the region ... ... I suspect they're all about to be f*cking sectioned
