I am on about the Hull people who choose to live outside of Hull then go on about it being great. If it was that great they would stay in the city. I am not on about people who move far away for work I am on about the ones who move out to the nearby villages.
Nearby villages should be a part of Hull, the boundary needs to expand, FACT.

I love it here, been here over half my life since uni, love the city and the scenery on our doorstep with the peak District is amazing. I never really lived in hull so don't know it that well, but think both cities are quite different, Sheffield doesn't really have a city centre of note unlike Hull, I really recognise the massive change in the attractiveness of the city centre over the past 20 years, whereas I see shef as more of a smaller version of London, just a massive collections of self sufficient villages all bundled together

Cityzens point on nightlife rings true, never seems to be anything like it was 20 years ago when I venture out, but reckon most of that is just being older now!

Shame the leadmill is gone. Cracking little venue that with a great beer menu. Not much else in Sheffield other than the beige same old bars and clubs you get anywhere else.

The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.

Can’t see that happening. You might get some different MPs and councillors elected from the usual party.

The Peak District is a joy on the doorstep. I guess it’s Sheffields version of the East Coast for Hull. Was out last Saturday for the fringe festival and really enjoyed it. Yes maybe a bit more like different boroughs than a city centre. No real old town. Bloody one way system kills me.

I think Hull is a place which is like a lot of villages. Ask people from Leeds, Sheffield, Sunderland and elsewhere where they are from and they is what they will tell you. Hull folk say Longhill, Orchard Park, Hessle Road…Know a lad who years ago was on guard duty at Buckingham Palace. people had been in signing the visitors book. A load came in from a coach trip and put OPE after their names. The other guard, a southerner, said a lot of you look good for old age pensioners when he saw it thinking OP was for old people. He cringed at the incredulous way the went OPE is Orchard Park Estate as though everyone should be aware of it. Why they just couldn’t put Hull…

The revamped road to Bev from Willerby will be so quick more and more people will move to the new houses on the Bev southern ring road - nearly reaches Cottingham !

It will be electric Sheffield soon and another soulless o2 academy style venue with £5839472859 a pint lager in plastic cups.

I lived directly opposite the Leadmill when I was at uni over 15 years. Perfect stumbling distance. Very sad that it’s no longer Leadmill. Lots of good memories….or those that I remember. The previous management had the opportunity to buy the place a few years ago but opted not to. Sadly, the legal dispute was of their own doing.

hulls got amazing access to stunning countryside a short drive away
its a short drive to decent sea side places

a stunning marina
incredible old town
some amazing museums

amazing cycling routes here there and everywhere

it now has an amazing tech centre for it

and the worst parts of hull are much much much nicer than the worst parts of london, birmingham, manchester, liverpool and so on and so on
I'm fairly fortunate living in Condorrat,Cumbernauld..

Near enough to Glasgow if we want a change of scenery, far enough if we don't.I'm essentially living out in a concrete jungle which admittedly has become a no go zone in some areas, thankfully 'most' people in my housing scheme care about their environment and it is surrounded by greenery, fields and thriving wildlife.

As for the earlier conversation about people of Hull naming the areas they come from instead of the City, most follow that approach up here.

You’re trying to be nasty about OLM. Why don’t you just say it?

Every few months he goes on this rant against ‘people who say they like Hull but don’t live in Hull’. It’s boring as ****.

Why do they choose not to live in such a wonderful place when they are free to do so? These are the people that idiot Geraghty said shouldn’t be allowed to come into Hull and use its facilities.
