City fans walking out of stadium after game smiling shock!
Well I enjoyed that tonight. After such a disappointing summer off the field I turned up tonight fearing the worse, and a four or five nil thrashing to a backdrop of screaming, gloating, Makems. How wrong was I?
Cracking game for a friendly and City more then matched the Premier League new boys. We should have been one up when Kamara put a golden opportunity just past the post after a flowing, lightening quick City move and of course Sunderland went up to the other end and scored. It looked an easy goal too, here we go....
But City were knocking the ball about well all over the field and actually looked good. Crooks was running things and crashing into tackles, a proper beast, Drameh was impressive too, in fact they all were. Our equaliser looked a bit bizarre though, they had the ball one second and suddenly, could have been from a back pass, but the ball appeared in the middle of the Sunderland goal at the feet of Tinsdale and he tried to lob the keeper, who parried the shot but the young Tiger followed up and slotted the ball home. 1-1 and from then on we bossed the game.
Joseph was particularly impressive and this was by far his most influential game for us, especially the second half when his strong solo run, half the length of the field, made the second goal scored by Kamara. The new lad from Man City came on and Joseph set him up within seconds, then again when the new loanee smacked a shot against the post. Loads of changes on 70 mins, none of which changed the flow of the game of which City were dominating. So for me 10/10, and I know it was 'only' a friendly but we were impressive and every player looked up for it and played a part and no-one was more surprised then me. Standing ovation at the end.
Attendance 6,528.
MOTM
1. Crooks
2. Joseph
3. Drameh.
McCarthy was very, very impressive when he came on as was Vaughan.
Slater played well too.
No-one had a bad game and I cannot recall anyone misplacing a pass or missing a tackle.
