Remember when Ekitike only wants Newcastle was posted….pay the release clause and show Newcastle mean business.
Also not a given that Isak and Ekitike would work as a 'combination' ... Ekitike has flourished by stepping up after Marmoush left ... might not be too happy (or as effective) playing second fiddle to Isak...
Lol, you're on one. This started with you misinterpreting me saying Slot doesn't want us have both Isak and Ekitike as staying we're genuine rivals to Liverpool, then moved on to a weird comparison to 2 years ago, since when we've clearly strengthened. The fact we're a better team now IS a fact. Really not sure what your point is, or whether you even have one.
I wouldn't have necessarily seen it as that, could have played together, but Isak really needed some rest last season, and rotation with another striker was needed, but wasn't an option as Wilson was always injured. If we go for Wissa it gives the option of him playing up front, or him playing on the wing with Isak though.
I don't think this is misinterpretation but, ok. There's nothing weird about the comparison, when you got to the champions league two season ago, it affected your league form and you finished outside of the top six. You then had a decent season with no European football. The champions league will have an affect on your league form. It always does. You'll need to sign more players, and Elanga so far isn't enough, nor is he that level. Apologies for breaking all this to you.
Oh course it was misinterpretation you immediately flew thinking I was implying we were going to be rivals to Liverpool. Our strike force is already pretty awesome and Ekitike would have only added to that considerably. Slot clearly didn't want us having both, hence the Isak bid and now going for Ekitike. Being mental up front doesn't make the whole team title contenders. I never said the CL wouldn't be a factor, you've just decided I didn't. The fact is, right now, our squad is clearly stronger than it was 2 years. I also didn't say we don't need to sign more players, we do, an striker and CB being a priority.
You literally said it was a weird comparison you didn't know what point I was making? That was the point, and the comparison. The other one was, you were never having both Ekitike and keeping Isak. if you were all in for Ekitike, Liverpool would go all in for Isak. But I'm here to be proven wrong on this, just like everyone else who has said exactly the same.
It was a weird comparison because the team had obviously strengthened since then. Plus that season, even with a weaker squad we hammered PSG in the CL and finished 7th in the league (2 points off 6th), hardly a disaster. Plus saying we never getting both Isak and Ekitike is pure POV, and not relevant. And actually it backs up the point I was making myself about Slot not wanting us to have both players. I'm trying to talk about transfers and you're dragging this all off in weird unnecessary directions about us not being rivals to Liverpool, effect of CL on league form etc. Let's just leave it here please.
I prefer the more reasoned way of taking apart his ludicrous arguments. But anyway, I'm bored of it and I'm not responding anymore. Chief's on the warpath - anyone wanna take over?
