Nope. he needs overs into his legs. Hes not bowled anything other than 4 over t20 spells for 4 years. nowhere near "match fit" if you like.
Archer has been the difference completely. We have massively struggled to take big wickets in the first 2 tests but that extra pace has been a game changer. Wood in the team isn't far away either I hope. Wood and Archer might get 1 game each in the last 2 tests fitness permitting.
Hope so mate. We need them two fit and firing when we get to Oz. Their batting is looking very fragile in West indies....we need to be able to get at them.
Didn’t someone on here say Archer shouldn’t be anywhere near the test side last week? Or did I imagine that?
Jadeja edges short of slip, well played as it didn’t catch the shoulder of the bat?? ****ing hell man! Who is this idiot on comms?
Some said they thought he needed more first class overs before selection for England....a view I did have some sympathy with, not wanting to shove him back in before he was ready, given his injuries. However, think the need for him to play Tests before Oz took over....rightly as it's proved!
My concern was the lack of overs in the legs. match fitness if you like. He hasnt bowled anything more than a few overs in 4 years - the concerns were valid imo. He could have bowled 5 overs and broken down again. Glad that he hasnt and its good for us he hasnt. It was a risk imo but its looking to have paid off.
Oh I wasn’t disagreeing with you at the time mate! I said the same to my friends!!! Turns out we’re all wrong Love a bit of hidsightology!!!
What a morning. Been at work all weekend so never got to watch the weekends play and thought the game was lost. Hopefully make short work of this after lunch
Been a brilliant first session. England's bowlers really stepped up there. Thanks Washington for firing us up with that overconfidence.
I think he'll play another test and then take a little break to recharge - then have wood back for the 5th test hopefully. Wood and Archer firing for the 1st test in OZ is a mouthwatering prospect!
