Id be shocked if we aren't willing to pay more for Mika, hes a topper striker by all accounts. You don't get a lad like that for 20 million euros unless theyre in the last year of contract or playing in Belgium or Holland...itd be daft for us not to pursue a deal for 26 million quid.
I can see the budget being true. We likely can only spend like 50-100m more without starting to push it. We need a GK, CB x2, DM, Maybe a RW and a ST
And surely they wouldnt be able to stick exactly to that valuation, theres certainly a deal to be done imo.
Just some quick maths, we could feasibly sign one or two freebies, a keeper for 10 mill and then still have two loans
I’d rather we spent £20m on the keeper and only £20m on the striker than a £10m keeper and £30m striker (in this hypothetical scenario)
I believe it will be around 80-90m left to spend without any other major sales: GK - 20m CB - 20m CB - 15m DM - Free? RW - loan ST - 25m 10m to **** around and find out.
How would you budget if we have 100m to spend maybe Striker- 20 Winger - 20 Midfielder - Free (JH) 2x Defender - 20 and 10? Goalkeeper - 20
I feel it’s paramount we get a keeper who’s ready now. I’d sacrifice a bit of potential to get one who’s going to win us points this season
There’s a part of me that would like to see us put the £8m or so down that it would take to get Richard Kone. Something about those late bloomer players that come out of nowhere. Could be a bit of a Collymore.
I'm of the opinion we have progressed well past his level, would have been a bit nervous in the champo. But its undeniable players like that are great fun to see rise, althoug are you a late bloomer at 20 haha.
